OK so he gave Doobs an elbow  (part & parcel of being a centre half). I do think that Bothroyd was the best player on the pitch Boxing day though and would suit our team.

The elbow was not at all 'part and parcel' of anything ! Clear and obvious red card....

Bothroyd did however look a decent enough player, nowhere near as good as Kitson and not especially mobile or a goal threat. I'm not too sure what he would give us unless we totally changed the way we play and seeing as we haven;t wanted to change our style to fit Marek in I can;t see us doing it for a player of lesser ability such as Bothroyd.

Good point well made.

Centre backs dish out as much as strikers do. I haven't read anywhere that Doobs is complaining of the elbow. I can imagine Wally telling the defenders " Lads don't touch the opposition make it as non physical as possible" - yeah right. Signing Chopra or Bothroyd will not happen anyway.
Oh and you can't compare Bothroyd with Marek, they are completely different style of player in different positions?

he's not comparing the players he's comparing the circumstances of accomodating them in the team. I don't necessarily agree, but there is a significant difference.

If it is any use I signed him on a season's loan for us in Football Manager 09 and he scored 27 goals

Seriously, £4.5m is being quoted. Given that this is almost double our previous highest fee there is more chance of Donald Duck turning out to be the next president of Zimbabwe whilst winning 2009's X-Factor than this being true.

So that's a no.

Mr Angry
Terminal Boardom Why dont we go for him?

Because he wouldn't give us anything different to what we already have.

We need a new striker, but it should be a target man who can also hold the ball up and defender at set pieces - a poor mans Drogba if you want an example.
Jon Parkin?
