As somebody (No17 bus, I think) wrote on here this aggression towards opposing fans is just what football is trying to get rid of. It is only because of people who can't control themselves that there is segregation. When I first watched football at Elm Park there was no segregation, you could stand where you liked (we always stood at the town end) and never any trouble with away fans.

Where I sit in the west stand there are seats with a slightly limited view (behind the dug-outs) where opposing fans often sit. There were Liverpool fans there yesterday, and one jumped up when they scored) but nobody worried. I went to a Leicester game with a family member when FSB was their manager Recently a family member (RFC supporter, away season ticket holder) has been in the Leicester end with family members for the past two seasons while I and other family were in the RFC end. In fact we were accepted with the Leicester people in a Leicester supporters' pub before and after last season's match and everybody in there was friendly and we were congratulated by many of the people there.

I think it is sad if when we know somebody isn't using their ticket we can't give pleasure to somebody who otherwise can't watch their team. Of course, they should not expect to be able to go mad when their team scores, but I really thought this is a civilised country and people usually control themselves. Jimmy Hill made the point on TV this morning that many people look down on football because of the behaviour of a minority of supporters.

I think the answer to this debate is "Grow up!"

When genuine Reading fans are denied tickets, then it's not acceptable. The fact we've had Man Utd and Liverpool fans in the Reading away end is an even bigger disgrace

Whilst I'm aware there are sections of the ground where away fans would be allowed without too much opposition I tend to feel they are also the parts of the ground, such as the west stand, where fans are on the whole rather less animated.

And I've had similar experiences. However during the match is different when passion is running high. If you want to go to a match and sit amongst opposition fans then I suggest you try the more sedate reserve matches or, perish the thought, perhaps watch a bit of egg-chasing.
