RUMOUR - Jason Roberts

by tomrfcurz » 06 Jan 2012 17:38

Close to signing on loan til the end of the season according to various sources on Twitter. Expected to be finished this time next week at the latest. Apparently they're waiting for the Suarez saga to blow over before announcing the deal. Charlton also interested but naturally Roberts would prefer a step down one divison rather than two. Also prepared to take a large wage cut to ensure first team football.

Will be an interesting one judging by a certain thread on these very forums and his comments RE the Kebe saga

Excellent if true. I remember seeing him and Cureton rip us to shred a few years back. But wtf has the Suarez incident got to do with any of this?

What has the Suarez incident got to do with it?

Coverage on 606 would be good though.

I'm not sure WHY the Suarez saga would delay the deal but what Roberts has to do with it is that he's facing a load of stick from current professionals and ex pro's about comments he made about Suarez and the whole thing with Liverpool defending him. Tap his name in Google News and its one of the first results.

Like i said - not sure why that would delay any possible move to Reading as neither his parent club or us have anything to do with it in any way shape or form; but that is being reported could be the ONLY delaying factor in the move.

Kean used to work at Reading so that's a link.

Quite a good idea in my opinion, hope there's some truth in it.

At 34 years of age and 24 goals in the last 6 years, a big no thanks!

Would be a good signing! Add's experience to the front line and i'm sure he would be able to score a decent amount of goals at championship level!

Nah our current strikers are fine, wouldn't an attacking midfielder be more appropriate to provide some decent service? 5th in the championship ain't bad enough for a has been!

Would be a good partner for ALF and is the type of player we need. No experience in our front line.

I thought Reading are only interested in strikers who might possibly come good in about 2 years when they reach their 23rd birthday though therefore don't see this ever happening.
