POLL: Is the takeover a good thing for Reading FC

by Ups and Downs » 22 Jan 2012 13:59

Time to nail your colours to the mast with a straight straw poll. Do you think the take over is going to work out well for Reading or do you think we will hit trouble within, say, 5-10 years because of it?

No point in adding to the debate raging in the main TSI thread, but post your vote so that you can come back here in a few years time to say "I told you so!"

I'm going with "Good".

it's better than continuing to sell our best players every summer, being a mid-table mediocre championship side hoping for a sniff of the play-offs, appreciating that we continue to punch above our weight.

if it all goes wrong, the likely worst case scenario is relegation to league one, a few years of restabilising, and then back to being a mediocre championship club as above.

it has to be a good thing.

I am also going with good. Especially as the higher-ups and BMcD are staying. If major things, like Hammond going, I think I would be more cautious.

Good. We need investment otherwise the best we can hope for is stay where we are. We've been treading water for the last three years. Now we can build something again.

Until something bad happens, its good. Madejski's statement = good. TSI statement = good.

All we've got to go on is that it is good, for now.

Can't see how you can say anything good at this point. If you are anti-JM then you are getting rid, if you are pro-JM then you have to trust his judgement and that he is following through on his word to only sell to someone that will benefit the club.

Any additional investment, however big or small, is good news. Can't see why some people are worried.

Time will tell obviously. But at the moment, it can only be considered as a step forward

if they are sensible in their investment and out look,
if it means we dont have to sell our sigs and longs, and can supplement the sqaud when we need to.
it will be great for RFC

Not me.

If there was an option saying "Ask me again in 2.5 years" then I would vote for that.

How can we possibly know at this stage?

Ticking most of the right boxes. But then even Pompey's various owners didn't exactly come in saying "yeah, basically we're here to look like we're laundering money and couldn't give a rats arse what happens to the club".

It's an opinion poll, it's not a request for knowledge.

What, and present an intelligent balanced option on HNA? No chance
