The Brighton (A) Match Thread - Sponsored by FatboySlim

Any signs of early team news?

Obviously Jem hasn't travelled and is out...

From what I've heard.

Jem = out
Leigertwood = doubt
Tabb = doubt
Harte = doubt
HRK = doubt

Really hoping at least one of Tabby and Ledge can make it.

If they were all out it doesn't bear thinking about

But even if they play they are not going to be 100%

IMO he should get the important players fit for Friday, the crunch game, and go to Brighton
with a few more squad players and be happy if he can manage a draw.

The above doesn't bode well

Mullins and Jobi in midfield, Afobe on the wing, Cywka on the bench if none of them could make it :?
Not sure who would fill in for Harte

If they were all out you'd hope the squad players will feel like it's an opportunity for them to impress and have a really good go at it. I remember when Convey got injured and SHunt came in, took the shirt and never looked back.

If Leigertwood, Harte, Tabb and HRK are all out then of course it's a blow - but that's why we have a squad, not just a team. McDermott has always stressed the importance of the whole squad and if three or four have to come in then I don't think it'll weaken our performance. We have a huge number of players available and over the season as a whole we haven't suffered too much through injuries. I wonder if this is a chance for Obita.

The last 5 games are going to be tough, but I have a very good feeling that we'll finish in the top two - quite possibly as champions.

I'd agree with Snowball that Friday is the more important fixture, so I'd probably err of the side of caution for tonight with those who are doubtful.

Having said that, I'd expect Leigertwood to play (he's too important not too, espcially with Karacan out) alongside Mullins in the middle. I have a feeling that Harte will sit it out though, although not sure who'd be filling in. Is Mills available? Griffin more likely, if he's fit?

Can't we just start these threads when we actually know what the team is?

Whats happened to Joseph Mills? Doesn't seem to get a look in these days.

Hoop Blah I'd agree with Snowball that Friday is the more important fixture

Couln't disagree more. Win tonight and we're 6 points clear of West Ham. We could afford to lose on Friday and then the pressure is on West Ham to claim back 3 points before we then have two back-to-back home games. Tonight is the more important result IMO.

I want to win the league now though. Taking points off Southampton is crucial to doing that.

But if we lose tonight and win on Friday we'll still be 6 points clear of West Ham and we'll be closer to Southampton.
