Alex Ferguson's Manchester United "bought" three league titles, three FA Cups, a European Cup Winner's Cup and a League Cup by spending less money in both gross and net terms in his first ten years as manager than Manchester City did on their way to relegation in the same time period. More money was spent on Clive Allen than Paul Ince, Tony Coton than Peter Schmeichel, Keith Curle and Terry Phelan's combined fees cost more than Roy Keane and Eric Cantona's.

How many trophies is all that currently helping United win THIS season?

Have you got the figures for that? Doesn't surprise me too much because City did spend a fair amount and there weren't the massive fees, or disparity between good and excellent players values, that we see these days. Be interesting to see the same breakdown for the next ten years though.

As much as it helped them in 2004/05, which clearly ended United as a force in football..

It would be absolute jokes wouldn't it. There was a bloke on SSN the other day sporting a 'Man City Premier League Champions 2011/12' t-shirt. Classy.

Unsurprised to see NFA come out for United 8) . What is it they say about Chelsea rent boys?

Man City are top for a reason - QPR are relegation fodder for a reason - similar to Arsenal winning the title many moons ago with a 4:0 thumping of Everton at home on the last day of the season i fully expect the same this Sunday with Kompany bagging a 4th with a surging run into the box. 4:0 Man City and party time - there and on here with no more The Maruading Dog posts!!

Pretty desperate stuff m8  . I actually have £20 on City to win the title so a somewhat vested interest. Not to mention a further £20 to come from Tredder if his big-spending QPR failures come crashing down as a side-effect. However, £40 is only £40 and I will see the hiLOLaROFLious side if City stack it now 8) .

It's just 7 pages of people struggling to reach the conclusion that earning your fortune is more respectable than inheriting one, so don't worry.

A bit torn myself; me Dad's a ManU fan and I like to see him happy. But I want to see QPR come back down again after all the attitude last season.

Likewise, but let's be honest they haven't been short of a reason or two to be happy the last 20 years.
