melonhead whatever your definition of rumour is, is wrong

I could say "Messi is joining Reading" - doesn't make it a rumour

if you spread it round a bit, it would be exactly that

a totally unfounded one, but still a rumour

This from over at the Guardian...

Brian McDermott has been rummaging through some old issues of Shoot! magazine and that got him thinking that the Madejski could so with some vintage ornaments ... and lo and behold, reports are now emerging that Reading are close to agreeing a deal with Michael Owen.

Royal Rother Yeah right.

The Guardian and Times think we're after him and that he's on his way for talks - but as he's a free we wouldn't have to conclude the deal tonight.

And that's where he'll end up. It's all set for the triumphant "save the day" return.

Err... why would we spend when we don't have to? Players don't bet better because you decide to pay for them when they're free. Or pay over the asking price.

Are you trying to say that Pogrebnyak, Guthrie and McCleary are bad signings?

TheSiege Question - Why is this thread still here?

Possibly because Owen's still available, on a free, and there is speculation linking him with us?

Simple enough for you?
(sorry, couldn't quite manage to reduce every word to one syllable)

"Owen can still be got, is free and some say we want him" Is about the best I can manage, but it does lose a little in the monosylabic translation.

There free for a reason because no one wants them especially at this late stage after the transfer window has shut, ok when there free in the transfer window then theres good bargains to be had but at this late stage no one wants them if owen was that

Pogrebnyak, Guthrie and McCleary no there good signings v good signings to be honest but reading should had at least splashed the cash a bit more and showed us the ambition in the club even southampton spent 12mill on Gaston Ramirez that shows ambition to me

Im not the only one on here that thinks this as from the replys on the board everyone knows we need another striker

Like they say time will tell but i hope im wrong but i think were go down
