E. Andrew Pearce is the most logical option of those. As above, the others aren't guarenteed a long-standing spot at the moment.

I don't understand how Guthrie isn't guaranteed a long standing spot. He's been clearly one of our best players. And we have no one else like him in the squad either.

He's looking great. But he's a new addition (and there are questions regarding his attitude). If I had to quickly guess how many awful games in a row it would take for one of our starters to be switched out, at least temporarily, I would say:

Gunter 2, Pearce 6, Gorkss 6, Harte 2-3, McCleary 2, Guthrie 3, Legs 3-4, McAnuff 6, Pog 5
ALF 2, Karacan 3

I imagine you want your captain to be on the high end.

I would light-heartedly propose Jimmy Kebe.

:)

After McAnnuf, I would have Pearce, or maybe Gorkks. I don't know enough about Guthrie's charactor (I think he might be a bit of a loose canon) to say he should be the next captain.

What questions are there regarding Guthrie's attitude here?

I would love to see jem in the captains role, however pearcey seems to fit the job perfectly.

Guthrie's wedding reception this year decended into violence when a guests reportedly threw some lobster thermidor. "Guthrie, his bride Rebecca, their fathers and siblings were all said to have been caught up in the violence which involved punches, slaps and kicks."

I don't think that affects his attitude at all... besides I can imagine anyone would be pissed if someone screwed up your wedding...

I'm not sure guys. Perphaps I am being too harsh.

It may be that Guthrie was entirely innocent in that wedding furore. I have certainly been involved in some scrapes myself, that were not my fault. But I do think a mass brawl at your wedding throws into question whether the company you keep is satisfactory, and by extention whether your judgement and character could possibly be an issue.

I don't know Guthrie. He may be a lovely bloke. But I think, until proven otherwise, the wedding thing raises a question mark over whether he is captain material.

I was hoping the wedding thing wouldn't be brought up in response to that question.

Not sure how you can really draw any comparisons between what apparently happened there and his attitude on a football pitch.

I have seen absolutely nothing so far in his handful of appearances for us to suggest he has a questionable or poor attitude.
