Ian Royal
TBM What did he say about Pearce?

he started the season, blah blah the mix wasn't right, he lost out, blah blah. Mariappa got injured, Morro's come from nowhere and done really well and is really popular and could be a big leader.

Ups and Downs Which is bullshit.

What exactly do you expect him to say? I'm playing Gorkss because my big defensive signing's been mediocre and I'm trying to force Pearce's hand to reduce his wage demands by a couple of ££££s a week?

The interview paraphrased. NOTE THIS IS NOT VERBATIM.

How do you stop AZ from getting involved with matchday decisions?
I don't, we're all one team, it's his club, i welcome it.

Why Gorkss and not Pearce/other combinations?
The team wasn't right when Pearce was in it, Marriappa got injured which was unlucky, "kasper has played the games" (direct quote leaving nothing out, that's all she wrote), Morrison came from nowhere, we've got 4 centre halfs, doing the best to pick the right combinations.

Morrison's been great the fans love him
He's great etc, a good leader because he's tall. The team likes him.

Gunter of Cummings?
Both had some errors, Gunter was crap on Saturday, toss of a coin between them.

Why take off a CM and move a winger into the middle?
Winger is a more attacking gamble.

How close are we to knowing the strongest 11?
Last year was easy, you pick the same team when you're winning, it's a squad of players this year.

Why is Bryn in the squad?
Don't know if he'll play, working alot with under 21's good influence etc.

Investment in the squad in January?
Won't be much money, don't want to get hopes up, January is a tough window. Need experienced prem players, but they cost too much, more than we have.

Why are opposition getting so many shots off at us?
Don't mind distance shots. We haven't been opened up as much as anticipated, Spurs & Wigan did. We score a good number of goals. Cut out the errors and we'll win.

Were winning when the suit was on, will the superstition stay?
It' nonsense, suit doesn't have any effect.

Rock and a hard place really for Tim. Questions we want asked the way we want them asked have to come from the national media but that will never happen as we're not a big 4 club or a club with long history at the top level.

Possibly could have been things said to Tim off the record which he may be able to laterally suggest at in the coming weeks but it's difficult for local media as they need to keep good relations with the club and players so don't think can push things too much.

Ideally what is needed is a Fan's Forum with Brian as there would bound to be questions put rather bluntly to Brian into which we could at least read what he isn't saying.

Overall it strikes me that Brian thinks we only have one left sided central defender, which explains why Gorkss continues to play, and perhaps recognises that right back is an issue for the club. Therefore if there is any activity in January I would expect some movement in those two areas.

Moving forward there has to be serious investment in the squad in the PL - as borne out last time we were up here - yet we continue the "Reading way" which generally means we'll essentially only ever be a good Division 2 side at best.

Why did Dellor ask a question and then before BMD replied, offered an answer himself?

Rubbish interviewing IMHO

Extended-Phenotype Brian: do you think buying decent players instead of setting up a donkey sanctuary might have been a better use of club money?

Well, that was informative, don't hold your breath waiting for the pulitzer panel to call Tim.

Brian:

You made a comment very early in the season that the team know how to win matches.

Clearly they have forgotten.

Why?

Federici does, he loses sight of them under his chins.

I'd suggest Arsenal 'opened us up' with their 7 goals too, and we were very fortunate not to have conceeded more to Swansea and Liverpool.
