I liked the 4-3-3 with inverted inside forawrds, rather than conventional wingers. More chance of getting something to Pog.

--------McCarthy/Taylor----------
Kelly--Pearce--Mariappa--Shorey
-------------Ledge------------------
-------Jobi-------Karacan*---------
--HRK------------------McCleary---
---------------Pog-------------------

*Guthrie - don't really care who.

Bench

Taylor/McCarthy, Morrison, Gunter, (2 of)Akpan, Guthrie/Karacan, Blackman, Le Fondre

Looks like Walcott may be out for them. Good news.

The aggrigated team so far is (tactics not aggrigated):

------------Federici*/Taylor-------------
---Kelly---Pearce---Mariappa---Shorey **
--------Guthrie----Leigertwood--------
--------------McAnuff--------------------
---Kebe-----Robson-Kanu---McCleary----
-----------Pogrebnyak

* unlikely to play again this season I believe
** Everyone has picked this back four, except one who has Harte instead of Shorey and Shorey at left wing.
*** Everyone has picked Pogrebnyak
RED - either/or. Guthrie and Kebe have same number of votes to start.

Aggrigated subs:

McCarthy, Morrison****, Harte, Kebe/Guthrie Blackman, Akpan, Le Fondre****

****Mentioned on every subs bench

RED: The one that misses out from the first team squad.

Those close to getting into the first team but don't make the cut:

Karacan (appears in one squad less than Kebe/Guthrie), Akpan (appears in one less than Karacan, but is mentioned for the bench)

Those mentioned but nowhere near the squad:

Henly, Carrico, Gunter, Cummings, Hunt

I would suspect, game 1, he will go with the familiar tried and tested 4-5-1, with no dramatic personnel changes. He doesn't have time to re-train hoofball out of them so soon.

Don't expect much change to the United line-up. I would though like to see Carrico get some sort of pitch time, and Guthrie also.

I think that's a likely lineup but I think he'll like the look of Le Fondre as well. How he fits him in we will just have to see.

Good way of telling if someone is a numpty: they suggest playing HRK behind the striker again and again and again. This started before he even broke into the first team. Ffs, he's an excellent young winger, don't ask for him to be played in a position he's clearly not suited to.

I agree with SPARTA's line up.

4-1-4-1 eh? Reminds me of someone... Oh wait it's different because it's got Danny "The English Xavi" Guthrie in it.
