It's an affiliate club that has a partnership with Reading's Academy - there are a few in the US. My kids' club is(was?) also one.

Is this confirmation you were on a windup LoyalRoyalFan?
I honestly wouldn't be able to sleep tonight with the thought of people as thick as you roaming the streets of Britain.

Don't know what your beef is.

No hard feelings, innit. No reason why you'd know that EDL vid. Sadly it is true that there is so much ignorance about Islam that it's not surprising that someone especially with a username like mine may genuinely think muslamic is a word. I'm not a muslamicist myself btw - peace and respect to all. Even to muslamics.

Barry the bird boggler Can't wait to see our three remaining "1st teamers" who aren't away making up the numbers in various remote parts of Europe join up with the few remaining fringe youngsters in another meaningless friendly.

Why not?
I enjoyed myself at Madejski Stadium on Monday evening watching 0 "1st teamers", and so did countless others.

I'd probably rather see a few of the younger guys play tbh.

And I really don't get the criticism of the club trying to make it sound exciting, what else are they going to do?

This. I'll see the adults play 30+ times in the season; I'd rather a glimpse of the next generation.
Plus Royston Drenthe of course.

Ouroboros Not surprising. There's an effort in Oman to have them inducted into the Championship next year. They think playing in Asia is holding them back. Apparently the Football League are receptive to the idea because there's a big untapped tv market there.

I think we should be pretty ashamed to be involved in dodgy shenanigans like this, to be honest. It would never have happened under Madejski, but you sell the club and this is what you get.

Shocking but not surprising really, who wouldn't be surprised to see us being replaced by them given our luck (1995 etc). No doubt Richard Scudamore has his money grabbing hands all over this one.

All a bit tight fisted of the Russian if you ask me....

He could have at least shelled out for it to be an away game and then I'd have clocked up my first match of the season. Muscat is a top place to spend a weekend.

Apparently the Oman fans are to be allocated Y22 and Y23 seats for this game.

I've heard the game is being sponsored by Wokingham's premier Balti house, The Sultan!

Really don't see the problem with this, it'll give the players no on international duty match practice, generate interest and revenue for the club meaning we can sign better players. If anyone's against this, go and support a club with no ambition like Swindon.

That's actually an awesome idea.

I literally cannot believe that nobody has ever mentioned this idea before on here.

Can you support Reading and Swindon at the same time? I'd like to think that would be ok. It might be hard when they play each other though. I guess then I would just support whichever one is the best.

Are you struggling to know what to get your team for the next international break? Want to show ambition to your loyal fans? Well then why not arrange a match with a middle eastern state? Because nothing says ambition like a friendly with Oman.
