I'm preparing a bid as they say in tabloid parlance.

Dick Habbin's hairdo So, come on, who was sitting in the Reading seats in the CAFC directors' box today?

Any of these?

Let's face it a tin of Steak and Kidney pie couldn't do any worse in running a football club than many owners and chairman who have given it a go.

Haag Royal Just heard a great interview by NH on BBCRB.

Spoke for about 10 mins and actually said bugger all. Kept talking about it being a transition period. Perhaps they might charge us transitional prices for our season tickets next year then.

They may well do. A 5% increase to help fund the transition!

And NH was sent out to do the dirty work with the media? So Madejski has suddenly become media shy? Quelle surprise! 'Now about that transfer funding that you said would be available Sir John?'

Straw man

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is about the logical fallacy. For other uses, see Straw man (disambiguation).

"Man of straw" redirects here. For the novel by Heinrich Mann, see Der Untertan.

A straw man, also known in the UK as an Aunt Sally,[1][2] is a common type of argument and is an informal fallacy based on the misrepresentation of the original topic of argument. To be successful, a straw man argument requires that the audience be ignorant or uninformed of the original argument.

The so-called typical "attacking a straw man" implies an adversarial, polemic, or combative debate, and creates the illusion of having completely refuted or defeated an opponent's proposition by covertly replacing it with a different proposition (i.e., "stand up a straw man") and then to refute or defeat that false argument, ("knock down a straw man,") instead of the original proposition.[3][4]

This technique has been used throughout history in polemical debate, particularly in arguments about highly charged emotional issues where a fiery, entertaining "battle" and the defeat of an "enemy" may be more valued than critical thinking or understanding both sides of the issue.

Straw man arguments often arise in public debates such as a (hypothetical) prohibition debate:
A: We should relax the laws on beer.
B: No, any society with unrestricted access to intoxicants loses its work ethic and goes only for immediate gratification.
The proposal was to relax laws on beer. Person B has exaggerated this to a position harder to defend, i.e., "unrestricted access to intoxicants". It is a logical fallacy because Person A never made that claim.

If we got promoted and Anton came back and apologised for his absence and took full control of the club, would we forgive him?

don't give a fukk, the only role of an owner is to plough the dollar into the club. if he does that then great cos we'll need it next year

Yes it will have to be a good excuse! We could always welcome him back, take his money and then have our revenge at some later date if needed? Let his tyres down? Carrot in the exhaust?

AZ is a pcunt. He wont sell his share until he knows if were guna go up or not because if we do, he can pocket over £30m of the £60m we get for getting promoted to the PL, so I guess if we do there will be no money again and another lesson not learnt. What a joke.

.....discussions have been taking place based on costs dependent on either division. You can agree a fee either way

Anton won't want to lose money on his shares, so could be waiting until promotion known, but at the same time I'd be very surprised if he scuppered any deal this summer on that basis. No owner or promotion this summer and the club loses even more value.

The club needs a new owner this summer whatever happens.

I'd wager the club would be a decent value as it stands, the opportunity of promotion being a big enough booster. Bit of a gamble holding on to shares on to the shares in the hope we actually do get promoted.

If AZ has any business acumen at all, selling now would be the best bet.

Reading are around 11/2 to get promotion.

Promoted team >>>>> Promotion candidate >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Championship team

Difficult to calculate it without the actual values but I reckon it would be an odd gamble to take.

If we get to the final bet heavily on the opposition to soften the blow of defeat!

^ yep that's the way to go! say to yourself would I gladly give away £100 (or whatever you can afford) to guarantee Reading promotion, if you would then stack it on the oppo and if the usual happens you get your money back plus a bit extra.
