Steve Clarke's budget talks with owners

by DanRFC » 11 Jun 2015 20:06

Does anyone have any news on the budget talks?
when is it due to happen and how much do you think Clarke will be given?

Current HNA theory has it the budget talks happened weeks ago, or maybe will be this week sometime. And that the amount Clarke has available will range from something like -£10m to £10m depending on what he actually gets given.

Spectacular misunderstanding on this one.
What were reports as budget talks were actually budgie talks, couple of nice cage birds purchased for the home dressing room.
Just had a Tweet confirming this.

Well something happened this week so there must be a bit of money (which we still have now) if the Football League World site is anything to go by....

Reading made a late bid to sign Palermo centre back Sol Bamba, according to Inside Futbol.

The former PSG man is understood to have agreed a two-year deal at Leeds United on Wednesday after initially rejecting the chance to join the Whites on a permanent basis.

Bamba joined the West Yorkshire outfit on loan in January from the Italian side and scored once in 19 appearances.

But it has now been reported that Championship rivals Reading made a late bid to land the 30-year-old before he signed a deal with United.

The Royals lost their star centre back Alex Pearce to Derby this week, and are eyeing up a replacement for him on the cheap.

It is understood that Reading boss Steve Clarke contacted Palermo to register his interest in the centre back, which subsequently kicked Leeds into action, who moved quickly to sign the defender.

He’ll be Leeds’ third signing of the summer after they confirmed the arrivals of striker Lee Erwin and goalkeeper Charlie Horton this week.

It's always good to see other clubs having no problems getting their signings sorted out quickly....

So much for SC's insistence on also getting us sorted out early on.

Hi JIM. All good thanks. He's not so new anymore. Nearly 14 months now. Time flies, eh? How are you and yours?

Registered our interest? I think someone's been playing too much Football Manager. That site is about as reliable as the shite transfer rumours site, so wouldn't believe anything you read on there.

It went something like this......
Board - Good morning Steve
Steve - Morning Board
Board - Well Steve we have an idea about raising some money could you get the U21 squad up to the Corporate boxes get them to turn all the sofas over and give them a good shake, see if there is any money there, also can you go to the ticket office and see if there is anything decent in lost and found and stick that on ebay, also yer those work experience lads we got in can you get them some metal detectors and set them off round the car park.
Steve - Ok well if your sure, if we don't find anything is there any other money available
Board - I tell you what Steve if we don't find anything we will have another meeting in a month and see what we can do
Steve - Well thank you Board for your time I think

We're putting up collateral against future transfers;

US$100 million (3.4 billion baht) bank draft from HSBC Bank in Hong Kong, equity shares of the Reading Football Club worth £50 million (2.6 billion baht), bank notes for 950 million Croatian Kuna (4.7 billion baht) and 33 Phetchaburi land deeds estimated to be worth 37 million baht.

EXCITING TIMES!!!!!!!

Hopefully Samrit is nothing to do with us any more, based on previous reports.

Not exactly a confidence builder that it took a Football League investigation to put him out of the picture though, rather than the wise stewardship of RFC in the "sensible" post-Anton era.

We will know if this affects the club by seeing if we sign anyone soon.
If we do, I should imagine he isn't part of the club... we just got to hope for the best and have trust SJM chose the right new owners :)

I don't see how he has the power to offer the club up as collateral if he doesn't own any of it, with the various businesses he either fully or partially controls through hard work of his own or through acquisition he surely knows what he's doing though that's the scary part. Sounds like we're screwed if he can

He doesn't need any involvement, the shares being discussed are described as fakes.....

The allegation is that they were fake share certificates. If this is the case then it doesn't really affect us at all.
