United really are shit...was watching the game until the rugby started

They really have very little going forward

Lingaard - dogshit
Mata- played well enough
Depay - dogshit
Martial - played well enough
Rooney - dogshit
Schniederlein(sp?) double dogshit
Carrick - dogshit
Darmian - dogshit

EDIT: LOL...just checked the final score

Did they really want to lose again tonight? Mind you,it was a plucky fight against one of Europe's very top sides...

Teams to concede more than 1 goal in a European away game against Midtjylland since 2008:

Bangor City
The New Saints
Manchester United.

I notice they are playing again on Thursday in the Europa, so will be interesting to see what team they put out tonight. Defo going to have a small wager on Shrews scoring anytime.

Even I've almost given up on the FFP rules as everything seems to have gone deathly silent on that now. Useless oxf*rd.

However the PL have their own set of newly introduced Profit and Sustainability rules. Complicated stuff again but it seems that if a club makes a loss in excess of £15m over any 3 season period the owners will be required to inject capital / equity (not just a loan) for that difference.

It's all in here if you can be bothered to dig it out! http://www.premierleague.com/content/da ... 015-16.pdf

As I posted up ages ago there's a whole raft of technical accounting stuff (way over my head) relating to tax refunds due relating to the USA involvement, but one would have thought, on the face of it, without consistent (and successful) CL football and with the huge wage bill plus transfer fees paid out since Ferguson's departure they must surely be in danger of falling foul of that rule.

Can't see that amusing the Glazers too much.

One would imagine it might be (at best) coming down to some pretty precise financial calculations to see just where the hell they might be at the end of this and into next season. And how to avoid that "penalty" at all costs.

If Jose Mourinho moves into the hot seat before June (financial year end) it would presumably mean a substantial pay off for LVG (and back room staff) which, if it took them over the aforementioned 3 season £15m loss, the owners would have to cover by non-returnable capital injection, and Jose would also be presenting a conditional shopping list and a chopping list.

I say again - that would NOT have been in the Glazers plans!

Maybe this is (partly) why they are holding off making the move to ditch the hapless LVG.

I don't know - just guessing but I should imagine there is a degree of truth in what I am suggesting. There will be some very stressed out bods within the Man Utd hierarchy right now, of that I am certain.

Cross fingers. I'm a bit excited yet nervous. I hope they will win in all their matches.

Sebastian http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2016/feb/25/manchester-united-and-the-problem-of-moving-on-from-an-all-powerful-leader

Pretty good article this one

Yep, good read. The one thing in their favour is that no one is really taking advantage of their fall to create a new long term era of success.

City are as comedy as ever - sublime one minute and a shambles the next
Arsenal are the perennial not quite there men
Liverpool are still in a mess
Chelsea have their own internal strife and end of an era issues with the demise of Lampard and Terry's effective playing days and Mourinho's ego swallowing him.
Spurs have a long way to go

So, Marcus Rashford! Not a bad start. Seems to strike the ball cleanly (better than SterLOLing at least) and has a good sense of positioning.

Direct running at defenders and knows how to drift into space in the box. Good composure and vision to not try too much and set up Herrera too.

I think Shearer's right, easy to be talented and burst onto the scene when people don't know you. He's going to get watched a lot now and needs to focus on working hard and adding more to his game rather than get carried away and think he's made it.

Could go far.

It took a few years between Liverpool's fade from glory (let's date the start from Hillsborough, so while they won the league again in 90, it wasn't until 1996 (give or take) that United had properly come through to dominate. In that period, you had Leeds win it once, Blackburn win it once, Villa finish second twice and third place finishes for Spurs, Palace, Norwich, Wednesday, Newcastle and Forest.

What with the change in money coming in, a short period of relative chaos before a new pecking order sets up would be great fun.

With the general increase in money across the league perhaps we'll see a period of more clubs challenging for the top 4 (I hate that expression) and so making it a bit more competitive.

There's only so many players the top teams and stockpile and so perhaps the likes of Spurs, Everton, Liverpool and Leicester (!!) will be able to keep more of their players and attract ones good enough to make it a bit more interesting again.

United had won it twice already 93 & 94 before they won it in 96

They also finished 2nd in 92 & 95
