Would you take Vydra permanently?

by genome » 01 Mar 2016 10:24

Hypothetical question of the week.

He's not exactly set the world alight at his time here on loan at Reading, but I think he has enough quality to be a good signing, he's still young, and we know he's capable.

I doubt Watford would hold out for the reported £10m considering his record this season - and they have some decent talent up front. I'd take him for few million if we can get this investment on board.

Yep, it hasn't quite clicked for him here so far, but he's had more than a few flashes of brilliance. At 23 he should still get better and crucially more consistent, if we could get him for £3-4m he'd be a good buy imho.

I take it he just grunted, headbutted a wall and went off to plot Vydra's murder.

Depends on the money.

For a reputed 10 Million, no, but he's a very good player
who could get better, especially as a permanent player for us.

If we could get him for under circa 4 Million, absolutely

Kermogant, Vydra, Rakels, Samuel is pretty competitive

Did he just say "thank you"?

Love Vydra, but surely £10m is too steep, If we can keep him the options of Vydra, Kermorgant and Rakels (+Samuel?) up top looks pretty strong for next season.

Big +1 to having Kermogant, Vydra, Rakels & Samuel as our 4 strikers next season.

IF we can somehow afford the £3-4m that Watford would demand then yes definitely.

Not for £10m though. For that money he needs to be scoring 30 league goals.

Can't see us spedning that much on one player though. Especially not without selling some.

Hypothetical answer - would you take him or the option of Sanogo on loan?

In a heartbeat. Imagine a player of that very clear and abundant talent with a couple more years under his belt. His career is one day going to put himself waaaaaay out of our class.

Was a decent but expensive punt at the start of the season but, very sadly, his lack of goals is one of the major seasons we will not be in a position to take up our option to buy.

Frankly, even though a class act will probably emerge from this grossly under performing player, he's not worth a million in his current form and even that would be too bigger risk for us as we enter our last season of parachute payments.

I'd much prefer a punt on Adam Le Fondre, currently out on loan at Wolves and collecting splinters on their bench.

Alfie will still remember where the goal is when he's 50 :|

When he first came to us his first touch was awful and I thought it was rustiness. 6 months later and it's still awful which would put a question mark against him and is probably why he is not getting Prem games. His strengths are running in behind and finishing and we've seen both in glimpses even if we have a team that generally fails to pick out his runs most of the time. However, I think he would be suited to playing with Kermorgant were we to go back to 4-4-2 longer term.
So £3-£4m might be of interest if we are going to build a pattern of play that suits his strengths. Otherwise the money would probably be better spent differently.

Le Fondre who appears to continually fail to hold down a first team place in any club he has been at in the championship.

Vydra - yes please. Class act.

I don't see any way we can afford him, but if we can get a second loan or find £3m (he'd cost more surely) then in a heartbeat.
