CONFIMRED - Joseph Mendes

by One8Seven1* » 07 Jul 2016 16:39

Sounds like a French second division superstar is on his way.

http://www.francefootball.fr/news/Josep ... ise/704086

Author of a consistent season with Le Havre ( nine goals and one assist in 37 appearances ) , forward Joseph Mendes will leave the HAC and France, but not the second division. Except this division one is English . Former Luzenac will join Reading, low training table Championship. At 25, this is his second experience abroad after a stint in Bulgaria (Lokomotiv Plovdiv).

Youtube clips could make Simon Church look world class.

Not even Youtube can make our Joseph look good.

That shot, at 8.11, is certainly a belter. Whoosh.

Gosh, there's some dross on that youtube clip.

Anyway, from a very limited view of his skills, here's my assessment.

Positives:
Good pace.
Quick turn and movement with back to player
Puts himself about a bit and seems eager (positive attitude)
Can hold the ball up and shield it when played up to him from defence.

Negatives:
Runs with the ball. And runs. And runs. Eventually goes nowhere. (Danny Williams No.2)
Mostly weak around goal (apart from one belter).
Poor crossing.
Doesn't pass enough.

Welcome to RFC. I hope you do well.

Did someone compile that video to show his best bits or his worst bits?! If it was intended to promote him it was an epic fail!

Don't think we can expect a 15 goal a season player but he looks promising as a target man for someone like Rakels or Kermit to play off.

What I learned form that video is that French second division defenders struggle against a stiff breeze.

Could be an unearthed gem, you just never know. Of course, he may not be any good too.

Some usual doom by nobbers, but I'll reserve my judgment till I see him play; I'm sure we said similar regarding our jimmy when he joined us from lens reserve side.

FFS why are we signing such rubbish players! 12 goals in 100 games for a striker is a terrible record and we need someone who can regularly put the ball in the back of the net.

Another cheapo signing

We are doomed

Can't we bring Le Fondre back? He at least knows where the net is!
