I was dubious when we were first linked. Bollocks to what Brum and Celtic fans think; He came through the United Carrington academy playing international youth football. He'll now be alongside Bond, Moore, Swift, Obita & Evans who he has played alongside & knows well. At 22, this is another really good addition to the squad. With ex Man Utd players / mentors like McShane & the legend that is Jaap Stam, he could prove an really top player for us. Now he's down south he'll love it  potential new reggae boy too...

Apparently at u21s he had decent distribution, was usually the one to bring play forward by breaking out from defence and has stamina to run all day. Decision making and positioning let him down, but athleticism can often cover for it.

Hopefully enough of the raw ingredients are there that Stam can mould him into a decent player for this level. Whilst I've ridiculed it a bit on Twitter and when we were linked with him I hoped this wasn't real, now he's with us I'm happy to give him a shot and see how he gets on. Potential is there for him to do well, even if recent moves suggest otherwise.

CountryRoyal
Ian Royal
Nuremberg Royal Hate to put a damper on this but he does not exactly have admirers amongst the Manchester supporters.
They cannot believe that anyone would pay a fee for him  unlike Cameron Borthwick who has just gone to Wolves on a long term loan and who is apparently the dogs donuts.

Utd haven't fallen far enough (yet) that their rejects aren't still good enough for us. Besides, what would the plastic glory hunters from the home counties know about Championship quality players?

Celtic fans don't rate him.

That's ok because most people don't rate septic or their bigoted fans

I'm sure somewhere on hna you will find me saying how shite Blackett is but I'm happy enough with this. We were crying out for lb cover/someone to push obita (be it out of the team or on to cement his place)

Cover and competition aren't the same thing, and if he is as shit at left back which everyone reports him to be, then I certainly won't think he will be providing much of the latter.

I just hope he has a bigger heart and more determination that the quite awful Jordan Obita.

If he comes in as your typical overly composed too cool for school fancy Dan that thinks simply looking good in the pitch will do that then he will fail very quickly here, as Obita is.

To be honest, I would have preferred a specialist LB to take over from Jordan but hey ho. We are extremely week in that area.

Agreed.

However, I don't think he quite fits the style Stam wants to play, I think Obita as more of an attacking/overlapping full back is the better option for the system.

Think that was true of a number of them. Thought the pen came about because McCleary was too knackered to cover properly. It's my main criticism of Stam so far - he's too slow to go for subs.
