Burton (H) - Predictions

by royalp-we » 14 Nov 2016 20:37

A thread to attempt to get an almost silent HNA out of this international break with some discussion for Saturday's game.

Burton Albion visit the Mad Stad without registering a win on the road this season. Their last win away from home in a competitive fixture was in Colchester back in April. That said, until last week our GD was similar to theirs and Burton have picked up draws away at Blackburn, Wolves, Fulham & Wigan. At home, they have beaten Wednesday, Derby, Cardiff and Brum. Cloughs team will be no pushovers. They remind me of our squad when we got into the championship back in '02.

My prediction
I'm going for a 2-1 win on Saturday. Burton will frustrate Reading. But Reading will frustrate Burton even more. Burton to take the lead through dyer. Following moans and groans aplenty from the mad Stad faithful; we huff and puff but fight back with a McCleary goal... and a late winner from Meite from the bench 8) sends us all home Happy; sticking two fingers up to having several mid season international football breaks.

Well oxf*rd, it's not quite 14 months but I'm sure fate will conspire against us.

I really like what Burton are doing and I actually think they'll survive this season. But I think we will win at a canter as we are nearly unstoppable at the moment.

3-0 win (McCleary, Moore and Meite will find the net.

Another comfortable win I think. My only concern is lack of creativity with Swift out, but think we'll have too much for them

2-0. Kermie penalty and a refreshed Beerens.

Swift missing will definitely be a worry but less so when I believe we have players that can play that role, I expect Evans and VDB anchoring the midfield with Williams playing just in front. I don't expect much else to change however there are further internationals still to play...

3-0 win
Kermie x2
McCleary

17,450... crowd creeping up

2-0 Reading.

Meite to have an impact after coming on late. I would like to see Kelly play in the Swift role in his absence but I won't hold my breath for that

Isn't Kelly also injured? Thought he came off in the Checkacrowd game last week.

We're a good team, but we often seem to lose to optimistic promoted sides. We'll miss Swift's creativity but he's been quite quiet recently. I'm going to manage my expectations and go for a 1-0 defeat.

I had forgotten about that although Stam has said today Kelly is fit. Still don't think he'll start but can hope

Burton's last 6 games have had two 0-0 draws, and four 2-0 wins to the home side, so I'm gonna go for the latter.

Back 5 unchanged then fancy another clean sheet.

If it happens, as a Stockport lad, I can dream of breaking this mighty record :D

Most consecutive wins without conceding a goal: 9, Stockport County (League Two between January 13, 2007 and March 3, 2007)

Easy!

Reading 2 - 1 Burton Albion Att: 15,674 not many from Burton i guess, maybe 400-500. Need to solve the Swift injury , and lack of creativeness. Would like McCleary to be given a bash in the center, pretty sure he played in this position for Forest a few times, and would like to see Beerens given a go on the right which is his natural side and give either Harriot or Meite a go on the left.

Yep he played No 10, scored 4 goals in one game from that position
