probably more like a post match drowning if yesterday's farce was anything to go by.

Yeah, the Sun on the Hill is normally a good pre match venue. And not too far from New Street to then get the connection over to Witton for the game.

Just be warned that virtually all pubs in the city centre allow no colours at all on matchdays

Could do, meeting up with Villa colleagues and a Reading STH in town for lunch/beers so you're welcome to join.

Not sure, it's not a pub I've ever been in to be honest. I assume it is home fans only given it's location, but I don't know for definite.

Why is this on the Saturday does anyone know? Thought it might be because Birmingham were at home but they aren't

Not delighted by us having 2 games in 3 days at this stage of the season even if the 2nd one is vs Rotherham

My guess is that is because one of the clubs refused to move the game. I think all the games were scheduled for Saturday when the fixtures were released, but the rest have changed since. In the past, it wouldn't have surprised me if the club tried to move the Rotherham game back to the Tuesday night but Rotherham declined.

"Hey Reading and Villa will you move the game"

Villa: yeah sure no problem

Reading: yes please, we haven't won a Saturday 3pm kick off in yonks

Villa: on second thoughts...

For those going by train, get your tickets from splitticketing.com as you can get a return for £32 instead of £55

Or get your tickets from Cross country making sure you get Reading-Banbury and Banbury-Brum. Same as split ticketing but avoiding their fees.

Aston Villa vs Reading: The reason the game kicks off 24 hours later than every other Championship fixture

Aston Villa will start the Easter weekend schedule a day later than their Championship rivals after putting the local community ahead of their promotion push.

The claret and blues’ clash with Reading kicks off at 3pm on Saturday as club officials agreed to leave Good Friday free of a Villa Park fixture following requests from the nearby church.

Aston Parish are hosting an Easter service between 12noon and 3pm this Friday and the congregation have experienced problems around the festive period in the past with football fans disrupting the day.

As a goodwill gesture, Villa agreed to play their fixture with the Royals on Saturday instead of moving it back to allow for a longer rest-period ahead of Monday’s trip to Fulham.
