Messi, take a bow son. Some finish. I just get really pissed off with coverage: every time Barca scored, cameras focused on Ronaldo's reaction and the Bernabeu just seemed to full of fuc king tourists on a day trip.

Also, the cameras have to focus on Ronaldo's reaction because it's normally hilarious.

Having been in form, Hamburg return to dropping like a stone and now sit just one point outside the relegation playoff place with 4 games to go.

4 teams separated by a point - Mainz (who got a great draw at Bayern this weekend), Wolfsburg and Hamburg all on 33 points with Augsburg just 1 point behind in the relegation playoff spot.

Massive game on Sunday as Augsburg host Hamburg. Hamburg also have to play Wolfsburg and Mainz in their last 4 games.

Darmstadt all but relegated as they are 12 pts from safety with 4 games to go.

Promotion from 2.Bundesliga is also incredibly tight. Table reads:

1. Stuttgart P 29 Pts 57 GD +18
2. Eintracht Braunschweig P 30 Pts 57 GD +16
3. Hannover 96 P30 Pts 57 +15
4. Union Berlin P29 Pts 54 GD +15

Stuttgart V Union is tonight. Is live on BT Sport should you fancy it. A Berlin win will see a 4 teams on the same points with 4 games to go, chasing 2 auto spots and the play-off place.

Hannover also host Stuttgart during the penultimate round of fixtures.

Nice beat PSG meaning Monaco are 3 points clear, a much better goal difference with 4 left to play, as opposed to PSG's 3 games left to play.

And 5th in a row.

At the bottom, Hamburg on a miserable slide again. 3rd defeat in a row, 4-0 at Augsburg sees them slip into the relegation play-off spot, now only 4 pts clear of Ingolstadt with an inferior goal difference. Potential for a 1st ever relegation is there again.

Of the 3 games they lost to a doomed Darmstadt side at Home, whose away record this season to that point was P14 L14.

tmesis Slight surreal coverage of St Etienne v Rennes on BT Sport, with the match being played behind closed doors. The game got delayed by 15 minutes after some fans in the car park managed to break in, and occupy a corner of the ground for a while.

It still has more atmosphere than a summer youth tournament covered by Eurosport though.

Strange again at St Etienne tonight.

The crowd is back, but making no noise at all - some kind of silent protest about playing a game on the 5th of May. There's a large banner saying as much behind one goal. No idea what the significance is though.

Bizarre scenes in Holland, where Jong Ajax (the Reserve team of Ajax what Jaap Stam used to manage) are 1 point off top. I wonder what would happen should they win the league. Surely they would not be allowed up?

It's a relatively new things in the Netherlands. Same as other European leagues with reserve team i.e they are not allowed in the top division and are not allowed in the same division as the parent club. Once a player has played 10 times in for the parent club in the league they cannot represent the reserve team in the lower division.

So Jong Ajax finish 2nd on 76 points, the team taking their place in the play offs is in 13th place with 49 points..... also the team in 9th took Jong PSV place but for some reason 10th to 12th didn't take play off places.

Play offs are 10 teams - 2 from top division and 8 from 2nd division. 2nd to 9th contains 3 reserve teams who are not allowed to be in the play offs, no idea on De Graafschap but they appear to not be allowed in so play offs go down to 13th place.

Unrelated factoid - Promotion & relegation was optional in the Dutch leagues until this season

Last day in the Dutch league today. Feyenoord top with Ajax just behind them. Both playing against mid table teams.

Feyenoord managed by Van Bronckhorst haven't won the league in 18 years. They blew a chance to secure the title last weekend.

A goal in the first minute does wonders to calm the nerves.

Nah, makes it quite quaint. Just disappointed it was updated to 12/13 a few years back from the 06/07 original thread name.

Is this the oldest active thread on The Hobnob?
