Madejski Stadium Pitch Undergoes First Reconstruction In 10 Years

Good news - and a nice article. TTE > GR

Desso out and SISGRASS in - softer surface which should suit Jaap's style. Just two seasons rugby to survive...

Got a few questions about this:

1) People saying "this is great, new investors serious about the club"... isn't this just running a club? Like you'd paint car parking places, or cut back bushes, or update some signage?

2) Updating a pitch.... isn't that done every 2-3 years? I saw someone say it's every 10 years. Really? Is that true?

3) My cynical view was, "ehhhhh, it means nothing, they probably didn't even realise what was happening, they've just bloody bought the club".

Any thoughts?

Our pitch is partly synthetic. I believe "re-laying" the pitch in previous years has involved ripping up the real grass and just implanting new synthetic fibres whereas this time we're digging the whole system up and putting in a completely different (newer) one

How will this effect our pitch invasions next year?

It should mean we can try to get above 90% possession

We haven't done it for 10 years due to major cut-backs at the club. It's been the same with PPM (planned preventative maintenance). There's a lot of work that needs doing since AZ stitched us up and budgets being slashed across the club.

Had we gone up, the Chinese had plans for a £20m investment in the stadium.

So long as it's not an expansion.

What were their plans?

I'm guessing that meant expansion and increasing capacity?

It won't effect them at all. It might, however, affect them.

Sentences shouldn't start with a conjunction, so although you may be able to speak proper English, it would appear your grammar needs some additional work. B-

The sentence starts (apparently) by advising that I am a ****. So, if we are to be a touch pedantic my 'but' should be lower case in order to follow on correctly. :o

Hearing reports that the new pitch is cutting up really badly and looks patchy after minimal use

Not good considering it's had 45 minutes use in not even the first league game yet
