Grabban was our missed opportunity.

Underutilised and wrongly positioned during his time with us.

Like pretty much every striker we've had since Coppell's days here

Bullshit. Vydra wasn't "utalised wrongly" for whatever reason he was shot of confidence, I've never seen a player of his caliber miss so many easy chances so consistently.

Vydra was started out on the left wing and that's where his confidence problem seemed to start, but yeah it's certainly not accurate to say that we've not had a properly fielded striker since Coppell. I mean we had one last year FFS.

I will never forgive Blackman for missing that goal at Fulham away. I was, for my sins, in the home end.

They went up the other end and scored.

My hatred for Fulham burns exceptionally brightly.

Just thought I’d look to see what Blackman is doing now. Didn’t realise he’s playing for Maccabi Tel Aviv

Doubt they'll be asking £7m for him this time round.

It is but this time it’s realistic. He is totally out in the cold so will be desperate for a move. They cannot realistically ask that much for him now. Plus the Portuguese link.

Appreciate this is an old post in the thread but reminded me I saw an interesting article the other day about Nick Blackman now playing for Sporting Gijon: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46850143

Nothing to do with Oliveira, sorry...

Saw that blackman piece, quite interesting

Is Oliveira quick? From the small bits I’ve read on Gomes he is a fan of a lot of pace up front

Think he’s more of a line leading centre forward. Probably exactly what we need, a strong focus for a pacy, ball playing midfield to play around.

Would still be a fantastic signing. I know it’s a couple of years ago, but he was their best player when we beat them on Boxing Day and they booed when he was subbed.

Hope he makes a success of it in Spain

Just think how many Le Fondre and Roberts would have got if they were used more in their proper positions.

I find this a strange combination of players to pick. I can't work out if this is sarcastic or genuine.

Roberts - pretty much played whenever available and in his natural position
Le Fondre - spent half his time here on the bench, so arguably a clear example of being underutilized.

Mirror going with this again today, we are apparently "closing in". Will believe it when I see it.
