Rumour Meite back to France?

by WoodleyRoyal » 30 Jan 2019 23:05

Just seen this in jlow’s piece in football London ‘attacker Yakou Meite has been linked with a return to France with Amiens.’

Not seen this reported anywhere else. What the details around this?

His new deal means he'd command a decent fee. If he's sulking behind the scenes then I'd rather he went if he wasn't happy.

Hope this isn't true but with Mr Tippy Tap around can see it happening.

Yep.

I watch top teams play exciting forward thinking, passing football.

Then I go to the Madejski and watch Reading try to do the same. Invariably ending up being a plodding, brittle mess who can't break down teams who sit back and fall apart against teams that press them.

Hopefully the loan players can change that.

Rumour going round that Lille are interested in Yakou. Just talk so far but obviously could be worth a fair few bob if Reading did sell...

He absolutely would not be first on my list of players to replace but at the end of the day if he can command a big enough fee to free up cash to get a Miazga or Baker etc then we should sell.

Not for sale in my book. Keep him fit this guys is going to be a 20 goal a season striker. How much is it going to cost to get one of them in If we do sell?

Absolutely this. I reckon we have around 18 players in the senior squad that can be sold, released or loaned out. That should be more than enough to reduce our wages to a sustainable level without having to sell core players like Meite, Moore, Yiadom, Rinomhota and to a lesser extent Barrow.

So whose scoring the goals if Meite leaves?

Novacovic, Oliviera ?

Presumably we know what fee we need to pay for Oliviera and would only sell a Meite if it was for that plus a large surplus

So we sell a hungry, young striker for a considerably older striker? That doesn’t fit the Gomes plan that posters are talking about. Happy to see Novakovic return btw. Ideally we have four strikers. Meite, Oliveira, Loader and Novakovic. Sell McNulty, Baldock and Bod.

There’s absolutely no suggestion of him sulking at all. With a fee already being agreed with Norwich for Oliveira, someone worth some salt needs to go and this makes perfect sense, especially with Loader getting a strong look in.

I liked the thought of Olivera when he first came here and his commitment to the cause was commendable, but there just seems something not quite right....no doubt he has the quality but i fear a dressing room bust up is waiting to happen.
So i'm for the keep Meite group and give Novakovich and Loader a run in the team. Also, if Meite can produce a 15-20 goal season his price tag will be in the 15Mill range soon, and this guy has become a bit of a cult hero recently and fans love that shit :D
