Ups & Downs 2018/19

by Winston Biscuit » 13 Feb 2019 08:54

About time the traditional ups and down thread made it's appearance I recks

League 1 has been interesting me most. Pompey looked so dominant but now seem intent on throwing it away, Sunderland always had those games in hand so were primed to make a run into the top 2 but keep stuttering.

Luton have gone on an incredible run and are now 9 points clear of 3rd. Barnsley, who I thought were just looking like securing a play off place, have also gone on a good run and are up into 2nd.

It's fairly ments down the bottom, with 2nd bottom Bradford just 3 points away from jumping up 6 places.

Wycombe are this seasons Plymouth having gone from early relegation battlers up to 10th place.

Lincoln have been looking strong at the top of League 2 for a while.

Paul Scholes managed Oldham yesterday and they got a 4-1 win. they also still have a game in hand and if they win that they will be 3 points outside the play offs

I kind of feel like League 2 is all about Macclesfield's great escape attempt though

Luton coming up will be interesting. Can't wait to visit the biggest shithole in England once again.

Will be tight finishes for Oxford and Maidenhead this year.

Wimbledon have snuffed it sadly

Brighton have dropped right into it.

The cliche goes that there's always a team who hits poor form and goes down, looks like they could be it.

2 of the places look sewn up but yeah, any of the 6 teams above them up to Newcastle in 13th could easily go down with a poor run of results or just a tough fixture list

Would be hilarious if Brighton, Fulham and Huddersfield went down.

Think it will be Huddersfield, Fulham and Cardiff for me, Brighton have the players to put in decent performances, at least.

That's always assuming...................................
Agree on their ground though-still resent them calling off a game late when the ground was supposedly unfit through rainand, surprisingly, they had a long injury list.

I don't think Huddersfield are tinpot. Cardiff more so.

I actually do like Huddersfield, but much like Blackpool did they are massively punching above their weight.

IIRC they are hoping to move into a new ground but still near Luton-even worse a place than London although not much in it.

The League One relegation battle is going to be crazy.

Walsall, in 21st place (the last of the relegation spots) have 42 points, three ahead of Wimbledon, four of Rochdale, and six of Bradford City. If that wasn't already close, Plymouth, in 12th, have 45 points. Just three points cover all of those places, and Plymouth are just nine points off the bottom.

It's absolutely fantastic - this weekend is going to be great.

I'd be looking at Scunthorpe who are only 2 points clear of the drop zone but have an appalling goal difference.

Fairplay to Wimbledon who have a chance now! Oxford should stay up too I think.

Luton looking like they are unstoppable now! Think Sunderland will nick the second spot. Playoffs will be a real challenge this year, hopefully Pompey/Charlton get promoted.

Expect 'Uddersfield, Fulham ( 8) ) and Cardiff to come down. Would love Southampton or Brighton to fall though.

Maidenhead looking good for safety, Hungerford may fall short.

First relegation a few weeks back was that of Staines from the Southern Premier

Here’s hoping that the odd win or two for Hungerford will be enough to keep them up. A team batting well above their average for a good few seasons now. Fingers crossed

Three wins and two draws in their last 5....better than us....Ian Herring to resign at the end of the season though according to the NLP
