£5 Comic Relief Red Reading Footy shirt

by Forbury Lion » 27 Feb 2019 14:24

As it's only £5, I'm tempted....but, what's the real story here? The shirt doesn't mention comic relief at all so I'm thinking someone (possibly a Swindon fan) ordered a job lot of shirts in the wrong colour and some genius thought red shirts = comic relief?

My only gripe is that for a £5 one off shirt, it's better than most of the away kits we've been subjected to in the past 10 years.

Think its a great idea and the price of it is incredible.

Very much a fan of this and hope many other clubs follow our lead.
Its just a bit of fun and raise a bit of money in the meantime.

Fully agree and with Despair's point about it being better than a lot of our recent away kits. Only problem is whether I'll be able to get one. I don't work in Reading so I'll be on-line at 9am trying to get one off the club site before they sell out.

Might buy one just for the sake of it tbh.

I like the idea - raises a bit of money for charity and it's a pretty nice looking kit. Wouldn't mind it if we'd worn it for one game, but not sure on EFL rules for that? Might try and get one online Friday morning for the novelty.

Wasn’t “Ryans Royals” a one-off change of kit (for charidee) mid-season (v Blackburn) a few years back?

Last game of the season wasn't it?

Four years ago already, quite liked that shirt, had overtones of the old Reading1871 badge about it.

The money raised afforded The Avenue special needs academy a VW vehicle that is still in use today, mainly thanks to Jem Karacans  moment

It's a magnificent gesture and for a fiver, must be better than wearing one of those poxy red noses. Defo getting Zammo jnr one. Slightly tempted to buy one for myself also. Will only wear it on a holiday though. Love walking down the ol' Spanish Broadway and getting a knowing nod or a 'uuuurrrzzzz' 8)

note £5 is the base price. You can pay what you want (as long as its above £5) as far as I understand

Another great initiative messed up by piss poor application.

Got the 2 shirts in basket and to check out only for the payment system to fail (rejected card).

By the time got I got back to try again (having tried three cards) - sold out!

Also women's shirts didn't appear till later but size 12 immediately sold out.

Yep tried to buy one and payment just kept failing. I eventually got an 'Order Placed' message on the sixth go, but no email confirmation and no idea if it actually went through properly or not. Seemed to sell out within a minute for some sizes. Really nice idea, but probably ended up frustrating a lot of fans.
