Today is the 19th anniversary of the famous (?) HNA trip to Sunny Scunny. A gobsmacking 900 fans met at Madejski Stadium in the morning before heading up to Lincolnshire in a convoy of Nobbers to watch a dire team doing it's best to get relegated to Div 4.

Finished 2-2 after being 2-0 down as I recall.

What a trip. Remember my old man pulling over repeatedly to be sick on the way up there after a heavy night. Glory days.

I remember going into the town and having a spend up in a pound shop, something I had never seen before.

21 February 1872 - first ever game
Reading 0 Reading Grammar School 0

Fans afterwards may well have said that we needed a goalscorer, with the probable 1-2-10 formation clearly not attacking enough.

Here's a game to make you feel old.

1998 and a 1-0 home defeat to Portsmouth who were managed by Alan Ball, had a 32 year old Martin Allen setting up the goal, which was scored by Adrian Whitbread, who went on the play a couple of seasons at the Madejski in the Pardew years.

Remember that Charlton game...sort of.

Was a little intoxicated and heckled their keeper (Henderson?) a little too much.
