Has happened once before. Sunderland came third with 90 points in 1997-98 (Middlesbrough got 91, Forest won the division with 94). Incredibly Charlton came fourth that year with 88 points  , which would normally be enough for automatic promotion.

That was the same year of the famous penalty shoot out final in the play offs

And of course of the magnificent six on transfer deadline day (Crawford, McIntyre, Brayson etc) and our dismal relegation where we lost 16 of our last 19 games. Incredibly I went to 12 games that season and didn't see us lose.

Premier League

Nothing can be confirmed this weekend though a Cardiff loss at Burnley will start to make things look very tough for them.

Championship

Ipswich's relegation will be confirmed tomorrow if they fail to beat Birmingham at home. Would even be relegated with a win if Millwall, Wigan and us all win too.

Sheffield United need 1 point to mathematically join the top 2 and be sure of a play-off spot but with their GD they could lose all 5 games and still make the cut.

In League 1:

Barnsley & Portsmouth can guarantee play-off places with wins tomorrow - joining Luton & Sunderland in that fact - though the latter 2 remain favourites for the autos.

Charlton can also secure a play-off spot if they win and Peterborough don't.

At the bottom, Bradford can't drop this weekend but a defeat to Bristol Rovers will leave them at least 8 adrift with 4 to play. Just 6 points separate Gillingham in 13th and Walsall in 23rd, so the relegation battle very likely to go to the last day.

In League 2:

Lincoln can go up this weekend if they better Bury's result but is just a matter of time until that is confirmed given their 11 pt lead.

Mansfield, MK Dons and Bury can confirm play-off spots at worst if they win and other results go their way.

At the bottom, nothing will be confirmed for a while but Yeovil can pull Crawley into danger if they beat them tomorrow. Macclesfield have a different kind of pressure now having climbed out of the bottom 2 in midweek as they travel to Forest Green. Bottom club Notts County need a win badly, they travel to Crewe.

National League:

In the chase to get into the Football League:

Leyton Orient, Salford and Solihull are already confirmed in the play-offs. Fylde and Wrexham can confirm their spots this weekend.

Title race is tight with only 6 points between Orient at the top and Wrexham in 5th.

Our "friends" at Aldershot will be relegated this weekend if they fail to beat 20th placed Dover. Though a win likely just delays the inevitable.

I'm still holding out hope that Brighton go down with Fulham and Huddersfield.

All 3 of the Premier League teams that like to call us tinpot with zero self-awareness, relegated in one fell swoop.

And then Bournemouth next season hopefully who have spectacularly forgotten where they came from.

Hadn't noticed that at all.
Didn't think anyone hated Bournemouth!

I have been chuckling a bit for a while at Charlton who have got themselves into a spot where they realistically are not going to fall out the play offs but also are not getting an automatic place. Fair play to them for staying motivated I guess, their regular season ended about 2 months or more before the play offs will start. (I do know that getting 3rd or 4th is what they are aiming for)

Sorry but just thought I’d say the Dover for aldershot game is next Friday - thought I might aswell go see them get relegated. They’ve got Hartlepool tomorrow

Premier League

Cardiff's defeat at Burnley makes tomorrow night's game at Brighton a do or die game. Defeat will leave Cardiff 8 adrift with 4 to play for and relegation likely confirmed at the weekend if the lost to Liverpool. A win would arguably make Brighton favourites for the drop given their run in.

Championship:

Not much shift at the top. Leeds 3 clear of Sheff Utd now but the latter have a better GD and a slightly easier run-in, so will go to the wire.

WBA and Villa close to securing a play-off spot, Bristol City, Boro and Derby remain the only clubs realistically in the frame now for the last spot.

At the bottom, Ipswich finally put out of their misery and will play outside the top 2 divisions next season for the first time in 52 years.

Defeat for Bolton at home to Villa on Good Friday will see them drop too.

We all know about the battle to avoid the last spot.

League 1:

All about the race for the 2nd promotion spot as despite defeat to Charlton, Luton remain 5 points clear at the top and 7 of 3rd.

Barnsley 2nd - 2 points clear of Sunderland (lost 5-4 to Coventry) and Pompey. Both clubs have a game in hand but also have to face each other on the 27th April. Charlton, as WB said, now just 3 points off Barnsley and have the easiest run-in.

At the bottom: Defeat on Friday will relegate Bradford and whilst it remains tight the other 3 spots likely to be taken by 3 of Scunthorpe, Rochdale, Wimbledon, Southend & Walsall. Whilst a poor run now could pull in Wycombe, Plymouth, Accrington or Gillingham.

League 2:

Lincoln up. Only 12 point clear of 4th but MK Dons face Mansfield, so they can't mathematically be caught. A win at Carlisle on Friday will deliver the title.

Tranmere move to within 2 points of the autos. The last 2 spots will go to either them, Bury, Mansfield or MK. The 2 that miss out will be in the play-offs likely with Forest Green and Exeter.

All 3 at the bottom lost so no change there but the gap to 21st widened to 6 points so the 2 to drop will almost certainly be from those 3 as Cambridge sit 8 points clear of relegation.

National League:

Havant and Aldershot relegated. So all the relegation issues sorted.

At the top with 3 games to go, realistically still any of Orient, Salford, Solihull & Wrexham could win it and the top 5 guaranteed a play-off place at least. Any one down to Gateshead in 10th could still make the play-offs.

Enjoying BHA’s unstoppable slide.

Losing 2-0 at home to Cardiff, five minutes left. Tough run-in

Forget Notre Dame

by under the tin » 16 Apr 2019 22:53

Just saw the news....
Yeah, forget Notre Dame, forget what happened in Catalunya tonight. The really sad news is that by far the biggest club in western Europe had two stuck past them at home by the mighty, majestic, imperious juggernaut that is Cardiff City. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Does anyone here really care about Brighton? I have absolutely zero feelings either way.
