Royals and Racers This whole episode of throwing Marlow out has caused several people to be most unhappy- and i can see why.

Reading FC, and MK Dons, have also inadvertently broken the same rule, because they have played players with EFL contracts.

In addition @RFCAcademy's Ramarni Medford-Smith played for Wealdstone in the Middx Cup and then Reading in B&B v @MUFCYorkRoad, THE EXACT CHARGE WE FACED!

"Under competition rules, protests must be submitted within three days of the match or the occurrence to which they refer. "

Don't matter unless someone complained.

Not sure they had much choice given B&BFA are likely to be keeping a very close eye on the line-ups today.

Very poor performance from Reading, sadly. Didn't really get going at all.

Given that nobody has a clue what the actual rules are, the club decided to play their strongest side once players who played on Friday and Sunday were excluded. Worst case scenario they get thrown out after winning, which is better than not winning. Although as they lost anyway...

It'll probably be a good learning experience, in terms of where it's a good idea to pass the ball around or try little stepovers, and where it's not.

The frustrating thing is when they looked to get at Slough with pace, they looked dangerous. But instead they tried playing tippy-tappy and just got picked off time and time again as Slough pressed.

Tom Holmes played Friday....
But with Osho injured and McIntyre having played a bit longer on Friday I guess Holmes drew the short straw !

With a foot in both camps so to speak I couldn't really lose today, but will try and provide a neutral opinion.

The U23s were bullied by Slough which is no surprise bearing in mind the age and in some respects physicality gap. Manny Williams (twice the age of some of these lads) and Ben Harris up front for Slough absolutely schooled the Reading back line, and Tom Holmes got particularly rattled, giving away the pen and also getting up close and personal with Ben in one incident. Anyway, Reading looked good going forward but just weren't allowed to do it very often, as the Rebels dominated the middle of the park.

Agreed that the young 'uns should take it as a learning experience, and hopefully the B&B will sort out the rules of the competition for next season, if any of them bother entering.

One final point - for the love of all that is good, don't hold the final at Larges Lane again, awful place...

Ex Windsor player Ben Harris - always a bit of a wind up merchant. Great to have on your side, irritating twat against you.

Not in this country, no (played in New Zealand I think). RR sums him up well, would not want to play against him. Interestingly* the referee also ref’d the Torquay-Slough game where Ben got sent off earlier this season.

Ah right. Explains why he was so wound up then.

Journeyman in the biggest game of his career.
