Sutekh Maidenhead have A bit of a hellish start in the National League. After an opening day trip to Stockport they play Chesterfield then Hartlepool at home, then travel to Torquay, have Bromley at home and then they’re off to Yeovil.

It amazes me how many clubs are part time in that league. Some effort by part time players who must either be self employed or work for amazing bosses!!

When I played semi pro at at high level, my boss was fine if I made my work up either on coach at home afterwards.

They take on Hungerford and Maidenhead (Tuesday 7.30 at York Road) as well.

I thought Maidenhead were the only semi pro team in the National League?

Example of some of Basingstoke Town's fixtures. How embarrassing is that! No disrespect to the clubs in this division but the Town the size of Basingstoke should not be facing opposition like Slimbridge, Moneyfields, Sholing etc.

Aug 17 Barnstaple Town (home)

Aug 20 Sholing (away)

Aug 26 Winchester City (home)

Aug 31 Slimbridge (away)

Sep 3 Larkhall Athletic (home)

Sep 14 Cinderford Town (home)

Sep 21 AFC Totton (away)

Sep 28 Mangotsfield United (away)

Oct 5 Highworth Town (home)

Oct 19 Melksham Town (home)

Nov 2 Paulton Rovers (away)

Nov 9 Thatcham Town (home)

Nov 16 Willand Rovers (away)

Nov 23 Bristol Manor Farm (home)

Nov 30 Frome Town (away)

Dec 7 Bideford (home)

Dec 14 Evesham United (away)

Dec 21 Cirencester Town (away)

Dec 26 Moneyfields (home)

Jan 1 Winchester City (away)

Jan 4 Sholing (home)

Agreed, and the same goes for Bracknell really, although at least they're on the way up again.

Perhaps even worse is Newbury, where they don't have a senior side at all.

Yeah, they played park football in the Reading league (sorry, Thames Valley Premier League) last season, winning the second tier quite convincingly, but it's not senior football, and they won't be for some time.

...and they no longer play in Newbury ; were at Frilsham and latterly @ Brimpton. :(

Shame I always liked going to Faraday Rd - nice clubhouse, with the door alarm that sounded like someone standing on a cat's tail :D :D

...was at York Rd on Tue - big crowd - Magpies edged it 1-0. Kuwait gave their entire squad a run out.

What’s Faraday Road used for now or is it just another building development?

check-out the Frilsham (and Yattendon) I used to play for them...not bad facilities for a ‘park team’ and half decent clubhouse in the village (if it’s still theirs).

PSF - Windsor 7-1 Wantage

Well, I didn’t see that one coming! Windsor played 6 or 7 teenagers (plus a few off the bench) including a number of 16 year olds, one of whom scored a hat trick from midfield.

We have lost a few regular 1st teamers this last week who have decided to move on to get their £20 a week or whatever, which has created more opportunity for the U18s to show what they can do.

PSFs don’t mean a lot as we all know but it was not a Reserve team from Wantage and we gave them a footballing lesson. Looking forward to the next one now.

Decent enough result.

Although I am a little confused that the NL Paper has Windsor down as getting beaten 0-4 by Staines Town yesterday, did they play more than the one game?
