PieEater My beef with VAR offsides that are so close are based on some margin of error on when the ball is played. They never show or focus on instant the ball moves or is played, that seems to be fixed and then the offside line drawn to measure who's ankle playing someone onside.

I'd be interested to know how many frames cover a ball being played and whether a frame earlier or later gives a different result.

they really need a margin of error that can then be left with the lino's original decision. Like in cricket where the whole ball (>half?) has to be hitting the stumps to overrule the onfield not out decision.

Fukk this frame-by-frame crap. it should a CLEAR AND OBVIOUS error on the part of the officials

can someone explain why the quick VAR check for handball (ref didn't look) in the Watford/Brighton game wasn't given?

Look blatant to me. Jumping in a wall and hit his elbow which wasn't in front of him :?

Also, VAR ruling out goals for mm decision on offside......fukk off.
Like fukk can it be that accurate

I see no point in assistant refs if everything is going to be done by tv

Var cannot and will never be that accurate. We have done some tests and presentations with it and there is no technology that you can implement that will tell mm's apart, apart from infared scanners across the top of the pitch which can do but is expensive, unpractical and a safety hazard.

I told the fa all of this in my presentation but they really don't listen. Idiots.

It's daft, especially when they don't seem able to define at which point the ball is played.

While I'm more of a fan than not, the bit where they drew vertical lines from different points on the two players separated by an inch at most, yeah, that was silly.

Offside used to be to attackers advantage in 'close' situations, that would be fine.

I still don't see why you can't go with the lino's decision unless it is a "clear and obvious" howler.

Drawing random lines on a screen in a fukking joke

Seriously, this and the handball incidents (plus the pundits responses) have already turned me off top flight football for the season. Talk about sucking the joy out of everything

Because they've stopped flagging for offside, except in cases where they still are of course

Fvcking bullshit

Including the 3 Norwich attacks that were flagged as offside on Friday which weren't. I know Norwich were well beaten but who knows how much difference these will make in the final goal difference analysis
