There is nothing wrong with supporting more than one club, or country
I'm a life-long Newport County supporter. I was born there.
When I was in the RAF, had a buddy who was a Leeds fan and we went there
religiously. (I got lucky, it was the Revie era, great days including 7-0 v Chelsea)
Those were the days. You rocked up, queued, paid cash at a turnstile, always got in
My first wife was from near Carlisle, a huge fan, and I watched them for years,
fell in love with "little club got bigger" with its higgledy-piggledy stands, a few
great cup runs (won first leg of semi-final v top-division WBA 1-0, were drawing
0-0 HT in second leg and hit the post. Then Jeff Astle.)
My second wife was a big Arsenal fan. I'd always liked them but never been...
Then my son was a huge fan so we went whenever we could get a ticket.
I came to Newbury in Sep 2000, still watching NCAFC, a club I've raised
a lot of money for, been on sponsored walks to pay that week's wages,
sat and drank with managers etc. They are "part of me".
But I couldn't afford the time and fuel to go to Wales very game, started dropping
in on Reading, then my son got really keen so we bought Sts.
I consider myself an Arsenal fan, a Reading fan, a Newport fan, and I still look
for Carlisle's results. Strangely, stopped following Leeds, probably because I
now lived back in Wales and could watch County
But if Reading play any other those others, not for a second do I not
want Reading to win... and that's what matters
PS I love Liverpool, too. Seriously dislike Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea
