Virginia Water 3-3 Windsor - not seen a report but it looks like late goals were swapped at Stag – VW levelling on 93’ – Windsor behind @ HT led around the hour mark ; pegged back, then took the lead again on 86’ from the penalty spot?

Pretty much that way, yes.

Decent game by 2 not particularly good teams although Windsor are starting to gel a bit. Still a few key names to come back from hols / injuries (unless they’ve moved on without mention from the club).

VW’s late equaliser was a pen. No complaints and fair result although their keeper reckoned we shaded it overall.

Crowd given as 240! (It was certainly a decent gate but either my eyes are deceiving me or that’s the 2nd week on the trot where the crowd has been overstated by 50+. Odd. Must be me getting old.)

As for Wantage - can’t say I’m too surprised they are struggling having seen a very young Windsor beat them 7-1 in a PSF.

here's the w/e preview - I'm not convinced the multiple SL/IL sites are correct; so I've gone for the one posting more matches currently - checked a couple where there was a difference e.g. between footballwebpages and betvictorsouthern and went with the one that the club site agreed with.....

Not many below STEP04 due to the bumper Vase entries - these clubs must have byes:

CCLP
Camberley Town v Sutton Common Rovers - saw a fairly young looking Krooner side get battered 5-0 on Tue eve down at Baggy Lea's nice new facility at Wrecclesham - just W of Farnham off the A325. Not that far from Farnham's own Babbs Mead ground.
Southall v Redhill @ Ashford T (Mx)

HELLP
Brackley Town Saints v Longlevens
Brimscombe & Thrupp v Westfields

WESSP
Tadley Calleva v Portland United

...Wed evening dipped into rapidly disappearing early KO options in STEP07s; with a first viewing of Burghfield FC, who were edged out 1-2 in their Thames Valley Premier opener by a very competent looking Newbury FC.
Sadly the Visitors now ousted from Faraday Rd - this season will be playing home games at Henwick - ironcally in Thatcham - not that far from where there was a mighty furore about them being expected to groundshare at Waterside (with Town) a year or so back. :|

If only Maidenhead were good at home!

And Woking  didn’t expect them to be pacesetters.

Be great if both stayed the course.

Wokingham & Emmbrook 2-1 Chipping Sodbury Town (AET)

Good effort all round from the hosts for this fixture, no doubt helped by the fine weather. A quick headcount of over 200 must surely be their largest attendance since reforming? I would suspect the official att will be less than this in the absence of turnstiles.

....sorry - lagging a bit this week - here's a round-up of the w/e - been a busy m/w too - covered some highlights but more later hopefully ....

Fri 30th/Saturday 31st August/Sun 1st Sept

FAV1Q
145 Risborough Rangers 6-0 Easington Sports
146 Holmer Green 0-1 Raunds Town
SUN 147 Irchester United 0-3 North Greenford United
- Got to this – easy enough trundle up the M40 and across to the other side of Northampton on the A45. Simple enough ground – STEP06 club – as is often the case at this level - all about the lovely/plush Sports Club and bar.
- On the pitch hosts overwhelmed by their STEP05 visitors who themselves not had a great start in the league.

SUN 148 Long Crendon 4-3 Langley aet FT 2-2
149 Wellingborough Town 4-1 Wellingborough Whitworth
150 Bedford 2-0 Burton Park Wanderers
151 Burnham 2-4 Harborough Town - 'Blues did manage to edge past STEP04 Slimbridge on pens at the Gore last night in the FA Cup replay
152 Eynesbury Rovers 2-0 Harpenden Town
153 Winslow United {SEVEN} 7-1 Rushden & Higham United
155 Rugby Borough 2-1 British Airways
156 Leighton Town 3-0 Bugbrooke St Michaels
157 Leverstock Green 1-1 Aylesbury Vale Dynamos aet 1-1 replay Tue
158 Lutterworth Town {SEVEN} 7-1 Pitshanger Dynamo
159 Holyport 3-2 Unite MK
160 Ardley United 1-3 Northampton On Chenecks
SUN 161 Chalvey Sports 0-1 Wembley att 147
162 Flackwell Heath 3-1 Arlesey Town
- watched Marcus's lads overcome in-form Reading City 3-1 at Magpie La last night (Tue) -
- the big fellah brought himself on for the last 20' with the game gripped at 1-1 - had an immediate & disruptive effect on their visitors back-line, as his very presence caused the young City defence to panic and give away a succession of free-kicks around the box. One floated cross was expertly cushioned in from close range by him, with several defenders 'hanging' off him, trying to hold him out.
Sadly not much later, he 'chased' a through ball (was offside anyway) and 'something went', :( requiring him to be subbed off with about 5' to go. Took about three to carry him off!
- there goes their Plan B for next Sat when they are away at Dartford-based Sutton Athletic in the FA Cup.

163 AFC Hayes 3-1 Dunstable Town
164 Hanworth Villa 5-1 Marston Shelton Rovers
165 St Panteleimon 3-4 Long Buckby
166 Bedfont & Feltham 5-0 Lutterworth Athletic
167 Rothwell Corinthians 2-0 Desborough Town
168 Hillingdon 5-1 Rayners Lane – minor shock as STEP07 Middx leaguers - not to be confused with 'Borough' and based at Brunel Uni easily put out STEP06 SSM side
169 NW London 0-2 Harefield United – 'hosts' are another STEP07 Middx side – g/share with Hadley in the SSM at Arkley (near the bottom of the M1)
170 Hillingdon Borough 3-2 Kensington & Ealing Borough

FRI 180 New College Swindon 0-7 {SEVEN} Royal Wootton Bassett Town
181 Clanfield 85 {SEVEN} 7-3 Sandhurst Town - minor shock: 'Fizzers' had been in decent league form - however they did surprisingly succumb last night, at home to Cove in the league, which could be a sign some things are quite right.....

Have you made use of the sin bin rule yet? Surely it will end up causing more trouble than it is worth.

Twice on Sunday.

Won't cause any trouble IMO. Will actually mean you hear a lot less dissent and whinging from the players throughout. Teammates will soon get on their backs when they have to play with 10 men for 10 minutes because they shout their mouths off about a decision which won't change...

Who keeps tabs on the time the players are in the sin bin? The assistant ref?

The ref generally speaking, though they can assign to one of the assistants if they want to. Pretty easy to remember tbh. If the watch is stopped, so is the sin bin.

Just seems like a lot more to remember, especially for young refs coming in to the game.

The ref generally speaking, though they can assign to one of the assistants if they want to. Pretty easy to remember tbh. If the watch is stopped, so is the sin bin.

Just seems like a lot more to remember, especially for young refs coming in to the game.

I think like other fans, you are overthinking it. A player gets a yellow card, he goes in the book. A player gets a sin bin, you write the time in the book. The coaches/players won't let you forget there's someone in the sinbin and you can always refer back to your book should you forget the time.

What did you sin bin for at the weekend? Persistant offences by the same player or one off incidents?

Sunday league - Warned captains at start of second half that the whinging was getting over the top and I was going to start binning players regardless of if they had been warned personally or not. They understood it was team wide warning and they both passed the message on.

First one 10 minutes into second half - played an advantage for attacking team, went nowhere so I called it back and gave the foul. Attacking team center back starts screaming from opposite end (60 + yards) about how it's a foul and why didn't I give it. (after I had given it) No need for it, complete dissent and disrupts the game for no reason so, cya! No complaints from his teammates.

Second one 7 minutes before the end - Opposite team, their center back has been warned a couple of times, just loves a whine. Starts going off on one again (within 15 yards or so), I told him one more word and he goes. He said pathetic. *shrug* cya! Explained to his teammates after the game (we abandoned 3 minutes after the SB due to broken ankle) what had happened and they all told him he's an idiot and needs to just shut up.

The reaction from the players both times isn't that I was being over the top. It was that their players needed to just shut up and get on with it.. Exactly why it was bought in. You will see less and less of them as the season goes on.

If it helps with referee abuse dropping then I am all for it. The one worry I have is that all referees are different so one week a player may get a free pass and another week he might get sin binned.

When it was rolled out did they make references to kids football? Does it apply to Under 9's for example?

That point still stood when you got booked for dissent. One week a ref accepts it, the next they don't...

I believe anything under 11v11 is 8 minute bins rather than 10. Though I don't really ref kids football so not up to date.

One last question in the Q&A.

Do you have to report all the sin bins you give or is not part of any match report? Do the leagues keep tabs on the amount of times players enter the sin bin and then punish further if there are multiple sin bins over a certain period?

Yes, we report them on our system the same as we would have previously (C2 - Dissent), though the clubs no longer have to pay fines like they used to for the caution. So there's a good benefit for grassroots football as you found most clubs would pay the fine for the players.

I'm sure it's monitored and potential bans handed out to persistent offenders but not sure on numbers required.
