BFTG Millwall

Made that hard for ourselves didn’t we?

Swift motm

Really pleased for Jordan, he’s really showing he’s still got it with shots and crosses and hopefully can go on to fulfil some real potential

Moore going off is a concern. Apparently his shoulder “came out” in the first half and he had injections at half time then landed heavily on that side again in the second. MB said post match that it looked to have settled once he came off but he is going to be a concern for the Luton game and if worse comes to worse he could be out for a while.

Certainly there are promising signs to take into the next few games but it would be good to be able to kill games off to avoid the nervousness caused when teams do get what turns out to be a consolation. So plenty of work there then for Mark and Eddie.

Yes, absolutely excellent for an hour. Everyone playing well and all coming together nicely. So much more fun to watch as well. Loved it.

Then a silly goal (seen on highlights, wtf is Baldock doing) and it’s a scrap for half an hour. Still kept it together and they didn’t create too much.

Definitely things to work on. Last half an hour wasn’t great and Ejaria (loved that ridiculous skill near the corner though) and Puscas didn’t get as much service as I’d like. Baldock still not quite 100% match fit I don’t reckon

8 Swift (mom) Miazga
7 Morrison Obita Yiadom Moore Baldock Rino
6 Rafael Puscas Ejaria Meite Pele Blackett

URZZZZ How did Bodvarsson look for them?

Well his bicycle kick didn’t miss by much..but by enough. Also, once he passed straight to our CB..
He is still tall though, and their combined aerial attack was impressive.

Trouble outside the ground. Glad we did them in and chased them off the mugs. Few punches thrown and we won. We will see them at the den.

Really enjoyable first hour and we could have got another 1 or 2 and then a goal means we end up hanging on for the last 30.
Didn't enjoy that towards the end and going 1 up front ended up just piling the pressure on ourselves.

Shout outs to Swift, Obits, Baldock and Rhino.
Ejaria not at the races at all, was surprised he was on for the 90.

Blackett worried the hell out of me when he came on

Still, up to 19th :D

A definite game of two halves. We were very good value for the 2/0 half time lead. Swift produced a master class, Rinomhota and Obita were superb too.

In the second half we started to showboat a bit. Then Moore went off and then they scored. It was then a completely different game and we started to play deep and were hanging on.
We deserved the win but made hard work of it.

Rafael. 6 Didn’t have that much to do but solid
Obita. 8 Terrific strike and looked a lot fitter. Did well
Yiadom. 8 Really got forward well. Showed real pace at times
Moore. 7 Solid throughout
Miazga. 7. Pushed forward a fair few times. Solid
Morrison. 8. Looked back to his best
Rinomhota.7 Terrific first half. Not so strong after the interval
Swift. 8. Outstanding in the first half.
Ejaria. 6. Not his best game today. Needs to shoot more often
Baldock. 7. A lovely strike. Worked hard. Could have played Puscas on goal on occasions
Puscas. 7. Worked hard. Tracked back. Switched the ball well

Meite, Blackett, Pele. 6 All ok.

I am happy with how Baldock and Puscas look paired upfront. Meite as the striking sub. 7 from 9 is a nice start. Let's keep it rolling!

Good to see high ratings for our CB’s yet again. Whilst I’ve always preferred 4 defenders, you cant argue with recent results and all three have been pretty decent so far this season when played together. Infact when they’ve played together from the start, our record is P6, W4, D1, L1 (although Miazga went off early against Huddersfield)

Only thing I’d say is judging from reports, Blackett was the wrong call to bring on as a CB. From recent experiences, Blackett has been a disaster at CB against Millwall (getting sent off last season and getting subbed off as a sub and then subsequently booed the season before). Not sure he’s suited to this side of the game. Of course Matt Smith is very good in the air though

Out of interest, when was the last time a new manager was unbeaten in his first three? Seems quite a while ago. Really impressed so far by Bowen

I can’t think of our last manager to pick up so many points from the first few games. Bowen is certainly playing a more pragmatic style which is more suited to the Championship.
Not sure about Blackett. We were certainly on the back foot after Millwall scored and sat back. So he was under a lot more pressure than our centre backs had to deal with in the first hour.

Decent ref today although the six minutes of injury time seemed to last for ages.

At the end of the game some of the Millwall lot looked to be spoiling for a fight. They seemed to be trying to get past the stewards towards our fans in the other part of the South Stand.

Don't think Blackett did a lot wrong... not lots right either, but the problem was more in midfield and upfront IMO. Rino went from imperious to sloppy, Ejaria was off the pace. We kept giving the ball away cheaply and placing ourselves under pressure. We just couldn't make anything stick. Going to one up didn't help.

In fairness that was often from good play by Millwall pressing us well as much as our poor play.

Saw the bicycle kick, didn't think he had it in him!

Strangely enough, I always thought he was slightly poor in the air for someone of his size but was relatively decent on the ground. I always thought Bod and Baldock would make a good partnership but we never really got to see it. Shame

Friday said he saw one of their fans spitting at one of ours. They really are a bunch of thugs. I hope DD gave them a right good kicking...

Glad Ejaria is now adding assists to his game too. Earlier this season, he was playing OK but was holding onto the ball for too long, making the wrong decisions. The last couple of games, he's now increased the tempo of his game, and from the highlights, whilst the weight of his pass was slightly off, the timing was much better
