If Reading didn’t exist

As things are a bit quiet......
If Reading didn’t exist and you had to support another club in the championship who would it be.....
Not taking into account proximity and travel distance etc. Just which fan group you think you could get on with and which teams style of play would suit you.

I would go for Bristol City, always found there fans good fun and friendly. Play some attractive football and I do love an underdog that does cause some good upsets.

Don't really like any of the 'big' northern clubs - far too self important, and too many smaller northern clubs to really distinguish them. Preston maybe at a push
I quite like Leicester in their current form
A few lower league clubs like Wycombe (surprised you didnt mention them OMA), Forest Green maybe. But they are a little too irrelevant

Surely the answer is, if your home town doesn't have a club you will either support the club your Dad (or Grandad) did or whoever was the biggest club at the time - as that is what kids do.

So I'd probably be a rugby fan with no interest in football whatsoever beyond a passing interest in the World Cup.

Brentford. It’s a bus ride away, unpretentious, decent and genuine fans and is probably one of the few London clubs that is similar to RFC in a lot of respects.

That just puts me (and I suspect most here) in a "turtles all the way down" situation. I think my dad briefly flirted with being a Chelsea fan but abandoned that quite quickly when he got taken to EP. So I guess I might be a Chelsea fan. Now there's a dark timeline.

If Reading suddenly disappeared tomorrow (and I know that wasn't the question) then I'd probably become a neutral on clubs and just support the England team, as I do in every other sport. Don't think I could be bothered with the trek to Brentford or Wycombe. I'd just want English players to do well for their clubs so that the national team is strengthened.

Most likeable set of fans? Probably West Brom. Shout out to Crewe.

It would depend on where he went tbh. If it was reasonably local then I would go with him. He is worth that commitment, future Reading manager for sure.
