Half time during Porto Vs Belenenses and the Belenenses manager is apparently caught on CCTV in the tunnel looking shocked, holding his face and saying he had been punched by Sergio Conceiçao, the Porto manager.

Portuguese FA investigating and say Conceiçao could be banned for up to 9 months.

Conceiçao is generally seen as the next big thing in Portuguese managers and was expected to be off in the summer, likely to a Seria A club.

And on the French theme, Camavinga continues to get rave reviews week after week. 17 last month and the boy looks like the real deal.

3-3 - Leipzig move 3 points clear at the top and Dortmund miss the chance to close within a point.

Mönchengladbach can go level with Leipzig tonight if they beat bottom club Paderborn, whilst Bayern have a tough trip to Freiburg.

Last round of the Hinrunde at the weekend - with Leipzig & Mönchengladbach competing to be the Winter Champions.

Here's a good end of decade stat. Ronaldo and Messi combined have scored more goals this decade than any Premier League team bar Liverpool and City.

Wow. Is that like us allowing a side from the Falkland Islands into the English FA Cup?

Very much so. CdF is am amazing competition, Any team in France or in a French territory can enter. More than 47 million teams entered this year. Frequently have some amazing upsets.

Typically if a very small team gets drawn at home to a giant then they offer to swap the fixture to be played at the bigger teams place. Top division sides give the gate receipts to very small teams they play against too (Marseille refused to give it this year and it has caused big controversy). I believe the French FA help cover flights and accommodation for small amateur teams from around the world that need to fly to the mainland.

If it was English we would proudly say it was the best club cup competition in the world, but it's French, so we don't.

that's according to some football journalists on a podcast I listened to last night. I was aware that an absolutely crazy amount of teams entered.

They gave an official number. I will try and dig it out

By 1948, the number had increased to 1,000 and at present, the competition features more than 7,000 clubs. Due to the initial increase in clubs, the federation created preliminary rounds beginning with the 1919–20 season. The following season, they added a second preliminary round. As of today, the competition contains eight regional rounds with some regions containing as much as ten.

They do.

Agree with SB on this one, it's a great cup.

On the number of teams, well, let's use a well-known online encyclopedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019%E2%8 ... _de_France

The competition is organised by the French Football Federation (FFF) and is open to all clubs in French football, as well as clubs from the overseas departments and territories (Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte, New Caledonia (Winner of 2019 New Caledonia Cup), Tahiti (Winner of 2018–19 Tahiti Cup), Réunion, Saint Martin and Saint Pierre and Miquelon).

5571 teams in the first round, over 7000 in total in the preliminary rounds ending up with 176 (where Ligue 2 comes in with 20 teams) in the 7th (equivalent to our 1st round) and 64 (where Ligue 1 comes in with its 20 teams) in the 9th round.

France's overseas departments and collectivities are effectively considered part of France, whereas our Overseas Territories are not. They have representation in parliament, pay French taxes and use the Euro.

Err, a map
