For reasons too boring to go into, and because I was in the south stand, we didn’t get the Nags bus, opting for the station bus instead.

How the f/ck normal bus users put up with having to listen to bitter Northerners talk cliches on the bus back every other week
I don’t know.

Just the usual about the out of town ground, we all support Chelsea arsenal really, all driving back to Chelsea/Knightsbridge, the ground is a library, enjoying football quietly.

My personal favourite though was a group who said behind us: ‘it’s shit living up north, we live in houses twice your size that cost half the price’. Which is a fair point I guess, having serious and organised child sex grooming gangs on your doorstep does mean you can pick up a bargain in the property market.

And getting paid half the amount... so house prices are fairly irrelevant.

House prices in Blackpool are the cheapest in the North West. That's because who wants to buy a house when it located in the 10th circle of Hell and an utterly miserable place to live. No sane fcuker wants to live there. You can buy an 8 bed guesthouse for £35,000.

I love the North West, it's a great area to live but Blackpool is a fcuking shithole.

Have to say, once again, I agree totally with FDTW. Blackpool is the utter hell hole on this planet. I heard one or two of their fans today slating Reading !!! Incredible. This must have been one of their best EVER holidays. Anyone going to the replay will need to see their GP to get their jabs. And before any muppet asks....yes, I've been there....ONCE.

Stop it. Sanguine (who exactly ?) will come on and say you’re all unreconstructed or something, whilst pretending not to be a massive right winger.

Pardew out etc.

Do you really think that ?
The wages are not that different especially working for large companies.
https://www.glassdoor.co.uk/Salary/Niss ... IM1039.htm

But the house prices and living costs are far lower.

But keep kidding yourself you have it great in the south.

I was discussing this with Mrs SP.

She’s suggested that a move to Cardiff could benefit our standard of living. I’d agree, but I think this could change depending on the type of Brexit we have.

I asked her what the big employers in Cardiff were, and of the 4 she mentioned 3 were public sector, so basically paid for by the South East and EU regional development funding. I can see both of these reigning back their spending in Wales post Brexit, so the less economically prosperous parts of the UK could end up having to sink or swim on their own. You only have to look at the US to see what that could mean for a lot of places that are currently nice places to live.

Central Cardiff is not that cheap. If you live a few miles out of the centre to get more for you4 money then good luck with the commute, rush hour traffic there is mental.

As for Blackpool, I am looking forward to a midweek trip to the Vegas of the North. I haven’t been since the 1994 4-0 away win, one of the best away performances I have seen from us, even applauded off by the home fans. A great weekend and a hotel room for £12 a night with your own sink/pissoir in the room, and an artery busting breakfast with fried bread, I really cant understand all this snobbery about the place.

Can beat that, I stayed in one for £10 a night, but no pissor/sink so had to use the wardrobe.

Oh, it's a great place to visit for a weekend, just an absolute fcuking pit of misery to live in 365 days a year.

Have the time of your life for an evening but someone's got to clean the vomit off the streets so you can do it all again the next day. Go quarter of a mile inland to see the real Blackpool. It ain't pretty. Southport, for example, has a Victorian charm. Blackpool's a sink estate with a funfair attached. It's a town full of grifters. That's why those who can afford to, move to places like Lytham.

I used to enjoy a trip to Blackpool in my youth. Same - remember my b&b costing a tenner with the breakfast included. No idea how the economics of that worked but was fun

Not really my cup of tea at my old age now though

The house price argument is always a little simplified there - renting fair enough - but the obvs if you are paying off a mortgage it’s also giving you a chunk of capital. And of prices go up as they normally do - 10% on 500k is earning you a lot more than 10% of 150k.

My main issue with the NW are the shite weather. It’s bad enough here but double the rainfall and take 3-4c off the temps and I’d be utterly miserable. Also the lack of being able to get anywhere much without a car would depress me.

Yeah this. Used to go to Blackpool a fair bit as a student as they held NUS conference in the winter gardens there. Remember going through it thinking most of it had had 0 investment (of even just basic maintenance and repair) since the 80s. And this was in the Noughties before austerity kicked in.

The dying holiday resort reality and resulting glut in accommodation and B&Bs also means its somewhere for councils to cheaply house people they can’t find real housing for, for example, homeless families, those recently released from prison etc. The former being particularly vulnerable, and as a result, often prey for the kind of scum bag who likes teenagers and younger. Add to that the geographic isolation that comes with being a coastal town and you’ve got all the makings of a really awful place to live.

Liverpool and Manchester have fantastic public transport networks and certainly being by the coast means Liverpool doesn't get as cold. Liverpool and Manchester are thriving economically. Having lived in both, I prefer Liverpool because the people are nicer but they're both fantastic cities.

Spot on Sandy-I thought St P was better than that be he clearly remains the problem within Labour rather than the solution.
