Royal Rother What is quite amusing (not really amusing) is that some clubs now missing out on promotion their efforts during the season had clearly earned had invested in players / wages well above the norm for the standard they were at in order to win / buy promotion, quite “happy” making a loss in the process. All part of the game, maybe to satisfy dreams / ego, or just to kick start well-planned progression up the ladder.

Now they’ve made that loss but have no promotion and have to do it all over again next season. But those players who were playing below their natural level will likely move on now as they won’t want to have a 2nd season playing a level or 2 down.

The haste in which they made the decision is the most ridiculous part of it all for me.

Deciding to null and void a season that is 80% done for most just 12 days after the last fixture was played, with the AGM a full 2 months off? What on earth were they thinking? They already knew that every non-league player would be out of contract by the time any chance of playing again, so what are they achieving by this? Its like there's a lust out there for instant decisions and information and "we have to know NOW" mentality. No you don't. Just show a bit of patience and wait.

As for that letter, im not sure the FA will change their mind. But im pretty sure the clubs effected, particularly those that had already mathematically won the title, will have a very strong case to sue the FA for damages if they don't go on to apply the same conclusion throughout the football pyramid.

Reckon what they choose to do with promotion and relegation might well depend on what the PL/FL decide. If the PL/FL season is largely voided then the NL will follow suit. If the PL/NL complete their season then Barrow and Harrogate will be promoted to the FL while Ebbsfleet, Maidenhead, Fylde and Chorley would be relegated. York and King’s Lynn would then both be promoted from NLN and Wealdstone and Havant promoted from NLS.

All relegation from the the NL was voided a few weeks ago reprieving Hungerford.

Remains to be seen how they go, but I don't think that is how the promotion and relegation will play out. 2nd place is not a promotion spot. Promotion goes to the play off winner. No plays offs = no play off winner. Which would in turn would see only 2 down. Then there's the Bury issue (4th bottom was all set for a reprieve) & will the EFL actually relegate anyone at all?

Very difficult to see teams voting for Null & Void. Only suits the bottom 4 in the NL.

I can see the football league only letting one club up, to replace Bury, and scrapping all other promotion and relegation.

Leeds and WBA will be fuming, but if the premier league do likewise, there wouldn't be spots for them to be promoted into anyway.

I did see in Scotland that in the West Scotland Premier, Auchinleck Talbot have been awarded the title despite being in third place, 12 points behind the leaders, when the division got suspended. It sounds odd until you realise they had nine games in hand over the top team.

To which....

Any news of the Jersey Bulls in the CCL?

Played 27, won 27, GD +92, 20 points clear of second placed Farnham Town and with a game in-hand.

Looks like my local team are about to die.

Council won't stop their rent so they are still forced to pay. I'm fundraising this weekend for them.

And will Bury face a further season out of football? With all football below tier 2 voided their constitution is already decided unless an existing team goes under (which may well be possible). Of course the obvious option would be to just relegate them to the NL and take Barrow up to the FL to complete the numbers but believe before all this the assumption was they would have to start lower down the league system. Could they yet even get a reprieve from being thrown out of the FL at all and just put back into league 2 (but then that could mean the likelihood of not voiding the entire FL season).

Danny Robinson departs Thatcham Town after 5 successful years to manage nearby neighbours Hungerford Town.

It is likely that they would’ve been in the same league as eachother next season had it not been for the pandemic, now he finds himself managing two divisions higher.

Just saying

Is there even any plan to restart the season anytime soon. Not possible until mass gatherings are allowed surely

Windsor’s Chairman has announced that anyone who had a season ticket for 2019/20 can get a free one for next season.

Nice gesture.

Tittle tattle ex Reading NL stuff

Kevin Watsons’ contract as manager not being renewed next season at Ebbsfleet, this despite having taken over a basket-case club and finishing the truncated season in the high end of the form league, with the likelihood of them having escaped (what once looked like an inevitable) relegation.

Leroy Lita 35 signs for Nuneaton Borough

NL have applied unweighted ppg to their leagues to finally conclude their season which confirms promotion to the FL for Barrow (who will start next season once again as a league club exactly 100 seasons after they last started as a league club), King’s Lynn (winners of the Northern section) and Wealdstone (winners of the southern section).

Play offs are now expected to proceed according to the existing rules of the competition for those clubs that have qualified (which will be good for those clubs that have finished their season and announced retained/released lists).

https://www.thenationalleague.org.uk/na ... supp-62361

It’s all to be finally confirmed by the NL but presume this would mean that

1. Slough would compete with Havant, Weymouth, Bath, Dartford and Dorking for the second promotion NLS place to the National League. While the last NLN place would be competed for by York, Brackley, Chester, Gateshead, Altrincham and Boston.

2. The second promotion spot to the FL would be between; Harrogate, Notts Co, Yeovil, Borehamwood, Barnet and Halifax.

3. Following the application of unweighted ppg Maidenhead United finished 21st the National League and will presumably be reprieved from relegation owing to the demise of Bury in the FL (Bury A.F.C., meanwhile, have applied to join the North West Counties League (tier 10)).

4. There will be no relegation or promotion between tiers 6 and 7 nor any leagues below, however due to the Bury situation one of the leagues, presumably NLN, would need to play a season one club short unless some dispensation is made to allow for one promotion place in the northern section through each of the tiers (given Ebbsfleet, Fylde and Chorley are the bottom 3 of the NL then the shortage of teams is currently in the southern section and it’s therefore likely one of Kettering, Leamington, Hereford or Gloucester would move over to the NLS from the NLN).

Have I missed anything or got something wrong?
