Pauno at STAR Fans Forum 11 November

by STAR Liaison » 30 Oct 2020 10:08

>>> FROM THE STAR WEBSITE >>>>>

After a wonderful start to the season we would have liked to invite you to a normal Fans Forum with Veljko Paunovic but are pleased to offer a zoom version at 6pm on Wednesday 11th November.

Pauno has had an amazing start to managerial life in England, picking up Championship Manager of the Month in his first go and beating the jinx by not losing the next game!

The event is free and open to all but with a limit on attendance.

Apply to register for the online Fans Forum by emailing STAR at chair@star-reading.org and we will send you a zoom invitation.

Given the format please send any questions you would like asked as there will be limited opportunities on the night.

See you there!

Any chance of making future live events like this accessible by zoom etc. I've fancied going to a few, but a 5 hour round trip for one of these isn't really practical.

Yeah, it's something we've been considering for a while and the pandemic really has pushed this on. All our Board meetings are now on zoom and this damn virus isn't going away soon.

We've been aware that 'exiled' STAR members can't enjoy the same benefits and we're also aware the nature of the Fans Forum has shifted over the last 20 years from effectively a private members meeting to an event that can be / is reported more broadly. Brian McDermott said the Leeds fans forums opened his eyes to what could and couldn't be said and in effect he treated them as public events.

We have an issue that the Fans Forum historically has been a membership benefit and it costs STAR time and money to put it on. So, in future there may be limitations (by member ID ) on access to virtual events but for the moment we'll try it without - and hope that supporters far away like Snowflake will be encouraged to join.

thanks, that's great to hear.

I haven't been a member for years, but would pay the price to get access some of these.

It's a shame, but in this day and age you can't really stop people recording things either on their phone, watch or just the entire thing if it's on Zoom. Perhaps not so much of an issue when things are going well and everyone presumably is positive.

Pauno upsetting all the traditions - back in the day of Burns and Pardew the manager typically pulled out a good result or two before the Fans Forum .... to the point we considered having the FF every fortnight!

Can we cancel this if we lose on Saturday?

Disappointed there's not some fake news about this posted already .... or even some doctored video clips of Pauno.

So come on, what's the craic?

I don’t recall that! The event was open to the public in a groundbreaking move.

Our first virtual fans forum went smoothly with over 100 fans tuning in. Pauno was greeted in Serbo-Croat by a loyal royal and spoke eloquently for an hour. The gist of the injury news is on that thread.
