Winston Biscuit Every player in the Italian squad has now made an appearance

Roberto Mancini never played in an international tournament and says his biggest regret was going to the 1990 WC but never coming off the bench.

Nice touch from RM there

Swiss team may not agree with you. Wales may have got a bit fortunate with playing Italy once they'd already qualified for the next round and could rest a few first choices.

Franchise FC Billy Gilmour tests positive for Covid.

Not much chance of any England player being positive at the moment

Also, there is no chance an England player caught Covid off Gilmour from Friday noght; no England player ever got as close as 2 Metres from him!

Surely there is a pretty high chance of other Scottish players testing positve what with the nature of team sports and shared dressing rooms etc.

(aren't all the players and staff at this tournament vaccinated?)

I expected Scotland to come back to reality tomorrow even before this news. I know they played well against England, but they have 1 point and 0 goals from 2 matches. I don't expect them to get the win again Croatia, and Gilmour missing only makes it less likely.

Aye. As with Wales I'd actually like to see them go through, but good chance of them finishing on one point and 0 goals.

This is a good point.

Wales are having a great tournament. All the twats trying to take the piss are entirely missing the point.

England are the biggest bunch of wasters in world football. They could win this and the WC and they’d still be massive underachievers.

It’s all right though because Southgate conducts himself with “class” :|

England's performances at major tournaments never change, but the conduct of the manager does and Southgate is one to be proud of.

And it's not like there's a significantly better team out there he could have picked. Or a manager who'd do a better job.

England have had one good and one bad performance. That's pretty good by their Finals standards.

And as Klinsmann said last night, had we got 4 points the other way round (ie draw Croatia and beat Scotland, I don't think there'd have been as much grumbling.

Absolutely not. Same with Reading really. if we had those 7 wins at the start of the season sprinkled out throughout the rest of the season and we then ended up finishing 7th anyway, there really wouldn't have been much grumbling.

Only just realised how easy it would be for Portugal to out this week as one of the 2 worst 3rd placed teams

100%, if we had been 5th-8th for the majority of the season then finishing 7th people would've grumbled for sure. But some of the "fans" wouldn't have had the early season expectations and thus not been super annoyed that we couldn't get over the line.

totally agree, but that's because the order and way in which things happen mean the story changes and the end result has a different value. The way in which we get to X means that X is valued differently, because X is only part of the value in what happened.

I am not sure this even makes sense when I write it down

So if Belgium or Denmark win, we're through, right?

I would rather them win the tournament with a shithouse manager like Joey Barton then be shit and have a manager with class

Well that ain't an option.

I know. He was just the only shithouse manager I can think off the top of my head

Should have gone with Warnock.

Quite like the Finland kit. A touch of the in-your-face old school about it

Brilliant nights entertainment so far. Twists and turns all over the place.

A goal by Russia or Finland changes it all again.
