150 Lager beer

by Jackson Corner » 17 Oct 2021 18:22

Sadly not the price. But did anyone get to drink the West Berks 150 lager? I didn’t get a chance to get a pint as I was late getting to the game. I see you can get 20 bottles for 20 quid online. Any good?

Thought it was decent.

Edit: Where you getting 20 bottles for 20 quid though? It's 12 for 20 at West Berks Brewery's site

Sorry I miss read the advert. Thanks Will order some anyway even if it’s just for the bottle label.

Had 12 bottles arrive on Friday. Nice labelling, so have already displayed a couple of empty bottles at home. Only 4.1%, so more of a thirst quencher but does the job.

Noticed on the big screen at the weekend that the code URZ10 gives a 10% discount on West Berkshire Brewery orders

very bland....basically Carling in a "fancy" bottle...bought 12 bottles from West Berks. Saved two aside for display purposes to go with my 106 ale.

As the WBB lager, “Renegade” is also 4.1, I suspect it might be that badged up as 150 lager. Don’t mind if it is because I quite like it personally!

Cheers for posting that, being an exile I’ve got to spend over £40 for free delivery so it saved me a few quid, which I will put towards a wildly optimistic trip to Blackburn!

I'm pretty sure that at some point on Wednesday it flashed up a code for 18% discount but stupidly I've forgotten what it was! It was 3 letters then 18. I think it began with W but I've tried WBB18 and WBR18 and neither work.

Apparently doesn’t apply to the 150 Lager

As we're on the price of beer, did the prices charged last night at the SCL reflect the budget cut in the price of beer - should have gone down 3p, I think?

I'm guessing no.

You'd be right in guessing no but probably not for the reason you assumed. The duty cuts were a typical politician's con aided and abetted by our useless main stream media who focussed on the cuts and not the implementation date of 1st February 2023!

I’m hearing that WBB is on the verge of insolvency. Trying to find a rescue buyer apparently

Wow, i'm kind of surprised and not at the same time. They missed the boat with the craft beer revolution in the last few years (especially during lockdowns) - the few modern style beers they've tried recently haven't been very good. But then there are plenty of breweries that rely on old-fashioned cask beers, and I though that WBB had a pretty good business model.

Seems like they've had a few crowdfunding exploits on the back of their IPO a few years ago. Their new site is absolutely massive and pretty impressive. Perhaps their bottling and canning lines haven't been as successful as they'd hoped. Must admit, much prefer the beers and family-run feel of Loddon.

I prefer loddon too. Though rebellion is much better than both, one of the best breweries in uk.

I went to wbb and I can wouldn’t be surprised if they are having issues. Big place in middle of nowhere, big restaurant probably expensive to heat with tall ceiling. Worst thing was the shop and beers on offer. Just so bland, bottles and no real ales. Very lazy. No cosy at all.

Went to loddon, not much in their shop but their restaurant bar area was ok. They need to improve some facilities though, loos, restaurant area, shop. But it’s cosy.

Go to rebellion, lovely cosy shop, amazing beer nights when they were on with I guess about 500 people, and cheap at 5 real fresh beers and glass for £13. They also sell proper fresh beers…the stuff that you need to drink in 2 to 3 days as well as bottled beers, cider, wine, gin, etc.
