Are the Ince's losing the dressing room

by retro royal » 18 Oct 2022 21:59

One thing I noticed when Ince scored, nobody ran towards him.

Has all their shouting and ranting pissing off the rest. Last few results would have killed morale, but these negative tactics and weird subs don't look to have helped

I think this might just be a natural evolution of Paul Ince the manager. I've always been looking at the points total to see how close we are to survival, even when were were 2nd or 3rd in the table.

At Macclesfield he took over a team that had drawn 5 and lost the rest. He managed 2 points from the first 4 games and then got 6 wins out of 7. Then managed another 6 wins for the rest of the season with 10 defeats.

At MK Dons he did well, at Blackburn he was just awful.

At MK Dons again, last 11 games of the season, no wins. By this time in the season he'd won 9, drawn two, lost 4. We've won 7, drawn 1 and lost 7 (though before these last three games, it was lost 4) . Then he had four losses in a row. Then he sort of got it back on track a little, Never really doing more than two wins in a row before defeat came again. Then it just hit the bottle.

At Notts County he did well after coming in. Got 4 wins out of five. Near the end of the season he got 7 defeats in 8 before quitting.

At Blackpool he came in in February, did okay. The next season he got five wins out of six at the beginning (including against Reading) then managed three wins until January when he got fired. Blackpool went on a 17 streak of not winning. Losing to Reading 5-1, that's how bad they'd become.

So, with the exception of MK Dons the first time out, he's managed to pick teams up for a bit, and then crashes and burns. I think he'll be gone by January. It fits his form.

He has never managed to stay at a club for 365 days. The closest was MK Dons where he bailed on them 361 days in. Blackpool (his join worst win ratio) was his second with just over 11 months. If he's there on the 20th February 2023, something miraculous will have happened.

If they have then I can help them. It is just off the tunnel.

The worst footballing cliche out of a collection of abysmal footballing cliches wheeled out any time results aren’t great.

But not as bad as 'end product' or 'fanbase' in the cliche stakes.

disagree - "fanbase" is just a group of people. "end product" is a reasonably straight forward term for some sort of outcome. "tactically inept" implies the user is tactically competent or at least knows what that competence might look like. And is used by wnakers on phone-ins the country over.

Fan base is a modern development when for decades the word fans conveyed exactly the same meaning. Pointless.
Your definition of what ‘end product’ is can’t be right. Everything has some sort of outcome unless we have a player currently locked in some kind of infinity loop. End product is similar to tactically inept in that it is intended to make the user sound knowledgeable, whilst not actually having any meaning.

Give them time. But performances need to improve quickly.
