Mid Sussex Royal Given the way the Championship is this season I can see a lot of U23 sides like in the league cup and a lot of exits in round 3 & 4, including us.

Sad that this is true. I am really sick of sides of all levels not putting out their strongest teams in the FA Cup and using it as a glorified Academy/Reserve competition. Personally I'd chuck out any sides that did it citing bringing the competition into disrepute as the reason.

tidus_mi2 Don't really care, I know my Dad would love us to get Spurs away as an excuse to go to their new stadium.

This was always my position but as I’ve now been to an NFL game there, I’m less fussed.

It’s still an amazing stadium though.

Parky has worked wonders at Wrexham top of the league and in the FA 3rd round draw. Fingers crossed it's Wrexham at home, be great to see Parky where he belongs.

But. it will be the only time he manages a team at the SCL though.

Not the SCL admittedly, but didn’t he manage Bololton at the Madejski ?

He managed Bradford in the cup. At least if Wrexham knock us out it will be slightly less humiliating than last season.

Probably be Brighton away or something similarly uninspiring.

Isn't this pretty much the problem once you hang around the top 2 divisions long enough - there is very little that can count as an inspiring tie - you are probably looking for either one of the "big" clubs at home - or an away tie at a club from the lower divisions that we've barely played.

In all likelihood we'll draw one of Derby, Ipswich or Sheff Weds at home - so it will just feel like another run of the mill Championship game (though they are all lower division) - we'll play a weakened side, as will they it'll be dull as ditchwater before we bow out 1-0 due to a late goal.

I really don't care about the cup this season. Let us get Spurs away and get knocked out so we can focus on the league

Pretty harmless game and they will rest players

Lost 5-0 to them in the FA Cup in 1970 the season i started watching us, can't remember us playing them since in the FA Cup

Yep, at least we're not at risk of an embarrassing exit to non-league opposition again.

The only competition in this one will be which of us puts out the weaker side. Ever since we lost at Wembley we've seemed less interested in cup games than Matt Hancock was in covid deaths.

I've always believed that that in recent years countries domestic cup competitions should carry a Champions League spot. After all the winners are the last team standing in each entire nation....which is what the CL is after all for the last 16.
Don't see why being 4th is, or not winning anything continuously should be be rewarded.
