Exactly. On several occasions I have had to explain the laws of the game and the guidelines issued to the referees to people around me who are articulating bemusement/outrage at a decision made. e.g. How can the free kick for offside against us be taken in our own half? Why is the referee spraying two lines where the wall is?Snowflake Royal wrote:Given how thick, partisan and unaware of the rules many football fans are, this is a laughable statement.Orion1871 wrote:You don't get three separate "you don't know what you're doing" chants if you had a good game.

Where does all this “game in hand” nonsense come from? After playing that match last night, there are four teams below us with, er, a game in hand on us, a victory for three of whom would put them back above us.The Royal Forester wrote:To all those who didn't take any notice of us who said "let's see where we are after we played our game in hand" and carried on moaning about being in the bottom four.Sutekh wrote:16th![]()

Because prior to the game we had a game in hand over, looks at table, 10 teams who were above us.LUX wrote:Where does all this “game in hand” nonsense come from? On TV it was clearly a foul.RoyalBlue wrote:
In the second half one of the chants started after the ref awarded a free kick against us a few yards outside the right side of our penalty area. People around me were saying 'but he clearly got the ball' with no reference to how he might have got the ball, I can't remember which of our players it was but it looked a bit like he slipped as he went for the ball and ended up with both feet going in. He may even have gone through their player. Again the ref was a lot closer and decided it was a foul.

Commentator actually said "if those chanting could see what we've just seen they would have to revise their opinion on that" - OWTTE.

I didn't think the Elliott incident was a clear penalty, others around me did. So I can see why the officials who were a lot closer than us might have decided it wasn't.

Personally, I thought she was pretty good. Let the game flow other than for clear fouls, ensured throws/freekicks were taken in approximately the right position without being too picky, managed the players well and dealt with our time-wasting (game management). I actually heard her say 'Andy it's your throw' to hurry Yids along when he decided he needed to up his bootlace to kill some time.
WIth regard to our timewasting, I can understand why some question only three and a half minutes stoppage time in the second half, although that worked in our favour!
I was also impressed by her physical fitness - I was watching her doing sprints as part of her warm up and she was impressively quick; I would suggest quicker and fitter than quite a few of her male counterparts that we have seen at the SCL.

I think that's partly us trying to limit the risk of turnovers which have often led to silly goals conceded.MR. Anyway, as regards an earlier comment on here saying Northampton had 11 players behind the ball making them difficult to break down, that's because our passing and movement going forward is so slow and ponderous, every time we get an opportunity to break, the opposition have time to get players back because of it.

Think MOM has the tools to play there but of course only based on 5 minute cameos so farSnowflake Royal wrote:Do think it's time to try someone else in for Doyle. LB all much of a muchness at the moment but would be tempted to give Ryan an extended go in the side as Dorsett plays too much like a CB at LB and has a tendency to allow the winger too much room. Actually think Jacob is given a tougher time than deserved but not sure he offers something extra we don’t already have
Wing continuing to cause a conundrum with his ability to dictate the game from deep marred by a lack of defensive responsibility - Cardiff’s only chance in the first half as a result of him losing his runner and not convinced he couldn’t have done better for their winner
Stevens
Abrefa
Burns
O’Connor
Ryan
Wing
Savage
Ritchie
Ehibhatiomhan
Lane
Marriott
Norcott, Yiadom, Dorsett, Elliott, Doyle, Kyeweraa, O’Mahony
Expect Jacob will be in there somewhere though
Lane probably needs another game or two, because he is getting in the right spots, but nothing soon and its break time.
We'd likely have an additional 5 points and be absolutely fine if his finishing was better in the last two league games.
If Burns and Ahmed were less error prone, we'd probably be top 10.

indeed - a balanced view on the TB for a change. I thought she was decent - I think it should have been a penalty but it appears that decision is open to interpretation. Agreed on letting the game flow, managing the players and her physical fitness - makes a change.stealthpapes wrote:rather enjoyed this post, thanksRoyalBlue wrote:Exactly.
