Andy Carroll is facing a prison sentence for breaching a protection order issued to safeguard victims of domestic violence.
The English striker had been arrested in April and the alleged offence was committed in March.
He is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on December 30.

If multiple claims are made against the person, then the weight of evidence builds up, but it still doesn't mean it's true.

Swindon Town captain Ollie Clarke has been banned for 7 matches after committing a 'highly violating and intentional foul play' on two opponents' private body parts during a game in August of this season, an FA report has revealed.
The act he committed was so unpleasant that it was redacted from the official FA disciplinary report.
He also received a £2,750 fine.
