Rather reveals that all is not well in some way behind the scenes though, be interesting to see what the club do in response. There is some talk in the media that the club’s senior management are holding an emergency meeting today which may well produce an “ultimatum” or two for various people

It is very much part of the modern game for managers to worry about the next game.
Last night with Liverpool cruising Slot decided to make changes, probably because of having played earlier in the week and a European game next Tuesday.

Unfortunately it backfired.
Gomez for Bradley was understandable with Bradley on a yellow.
Most of us would have brought on Salah so that Leeds would then have a fresh striker to worry about and at that stage with Liverpool very much on top they could go looking for goals to put the game to bed rather than try to defend a lead.

Slot is far from being alone amongst managers in taking this approach and , as discovered last night, defending a lead ,with not the strongest of defences, doesn't always work.

I do feel a bit for Konate because he looks cumbersome but for most of every game he is strong in the air and is a good passer but there is always that one mistake in him and nearly every time it proves costly as it did last night.

2 points thrown away but at least some of the attacking moves were what we have come to expect compared to the pedestrian stuff against Sunderland.

Suggestion that Gerrard or Heitinga are being lined up as an interim/caretaker if Slot gets the elbow.

All rather pointless though if any “issues” are elsewhere.

very calculated I reckon. he doesn't speak to the media much, and he is off to Afcon after the weekend. maybe its a season too far and he would rather get a move to the Saudi league sorted while he is away.

Depends if the issue is Slot. In general though I don't think 'player power' is good for a club. Beginning to feel though that somehow - a little out of the blue and so soon after the title win - Slot has managed to lose the dressing room.

Man is on bail having been arrested in August, no charges yet. He's got a nationwide stadium ban, as part of his bail conditions, he can't go within a mile of a football stadium.

Now been charged with a racially aggravated section 5 public order offence. Will appear at Liverpool magistrates court on 22 December.

This does feel like a 'pieces falling into place' situation.

I'd missed this, others probably haven't - Alonso's contract at Leverkusen stipulated that he would be free to talk to any of the clubs he had previously played for, plus City, should their managerial positions become vacant.

It's hard to think that, with his historic connection to the club and the style of play he enjoys, not to mention his connection to Wirtz and Frimpong and the German league (Ekitike), he wouldn't be a good fit at Liverpool.

"Shit" is a word that I never use as it is a pointless and meaningless word used in far too many contexts but as far as the Mighty Reds are concerned they are going through a mediocre season of readjustment and all has not yet quite worked out.

What the fans don't get is the slowness of build up, often made worse when Curtis Jones is in midfield.
I have said on here before that Slot wanted this style of play to give Liverpool a better chance in Europe and we will see in the months ahead whether his cunning plan works when it really matters.

Just on Leeds United they are a team that is getting better and I can see them ending up in mid-table probably alongside clubs like Spurs, Man Utd, Newcastle and Brentford and I suspect that the people who wanted Farke to be sacked a few weeks ago might have gone a bit quiet.

Not a great night for Sky TV watchers with Liverpool and City both taking part in 0-0 draws and the same at Brentford v Spurs.

Dreadful commentary last night from Fletcher and McCoist.
Neither saw that Szobo played the ball for the "penalty".

Both of them have that annoying trait of repeating themselves as if for emphasis and McCoist says so often "I really do" after making a statement.

Last night they , let alone, Szobo, were condescending as if they don't expect a League 1 player to be able to kick a ball and I think they found time to praise every single Barnsley player.
Also they obviously didn't bother to check out the Barnsley players , apart from the two with Liverpool connections, and even the MOM they failed to mention that he had been picked up from West Brom.

Talking of MOM what's with TNT picking 3 players?
Also McCoist picked the one particular Liverpool player in Jones who I thought had a poor game, once again pulling out of tackles and being dispossessed on a number of occasions.

One other thing as this is a Liverpool topic-it was good to hear Martinelli being booed by Pompey fans reflecting the distaste of the football world of what he did last week.

McCoist is all about adding 'by the way' after stating something was good ('that's some shot by the way!') and saying 'I gotty tell ya' before stating something was good ('I gotty tell ya, that was some shot by the way!')

He's pretty good but is getting a bit ubiquitous and the catchphrases / mannerisms are wearing a bit thin now, for me.
