soggy biscuit People are not perfect, sometimes they react in ways they shouldn't in the heat of the moment. Add to this that most RFC fans are mongtards that don't understand football and you have your classic Millsgate finger salute.

LOL @ all the faux outrage on here.
You don't need to understand football at all, you just need to have a sense of decency.Do you think that behaviour was acceptable ? I hope you dont have a child with you at the game and have to explain it, there is no excuse for it.

Does anyone know what's going on in his private life that may have affected his demeanor ?

I thought not.

Are there any pictures of the incident yet? Anyone get any at the game last night? Like I said on another thread, neck on the line and all that but wasn't 100% sure the finger went up!

+1 - I'm in this camp, the guy has disrespected all the fans who come along and watch the game, if you can't see that you're not very bright or are very, rose tinted. If I were to flip the bird to my peers/Manager/wage payers tomorrow, I'd have pretty short day. The RTG's on here can support him all they like, but it's a basic lack of respect for the club, and to be honest, those fans who will continue to support him on here !

And anyone who gets upset at a footballer making a gesture needs to take a long hard look at themselves.

Can't disagree with that comment. I'm certainly not upset by it, but if you don't believe it shows a lack of respect, I'm suprised.

For those that say the fans don't pay the wages, wake up. C. 400K for a home game on gate receipts, where else does the club get it's money from ? That's the same as saying that I pay the theatre for my ticket, but it doesn't pay the performers.

Where would we be without him ? let's chuck our reputation and respect away, and go for win at any cost. Might as well be from Swindon. oh.

Oooh, the smell of blood! With a bit of luck maybe we could run him out the club!

Philosophical debate, workplace bullying, bad example to the kiddies and all that - there really isn't that much to get worked up about.

Doubtless if I'd seen it my whole 2010, nay my whole life would have been ruined by this "guttersnipe". Yeah.

The retard element of Reading's support certainly reached new levels of retardedness by booing a player who's been a rock in one of our best ever runs just because he made a succession of misplaced passes. These people are morons, you know who you are.

However, that does not excuse Mills's reaction and his subsequent petulant behaviour. It was totally unprofessional and completely unacceptable. He should be fined and made to apologise, indeed, i'm surprised he wasn't immediately substituted, i'm sure many managers would have done and, indeed, should have done.

Can someone provide me with words that rhyme with finger and i'll come up with a classic song for Mills. If someone can come up with a tune to put it to and maybe even some of the words that would be a great help

If the manager was aware of what actually happened of course.

Anyway, fans were wrong, Mills were wrong. It'll be dealt with as the club see fit. Move on.

Jimmy Kebe is the big winner in all this, and to a degree Brian Howard, as the Reading "fans" now have someone else to aim their bile at.

It's interesting that no one has actually admitted booing Mills, before or after the finger, only that they heard or didn't hear others. I wonder if anyone who did boo is brave enough to explain their rationale or should we assume those who continue to attack Mills on this board were the ones responsible.

It seems to me the gesture was aimed at those booing so if you didn't there's no need to get upset as it wasn't aimed at you. And a big LOL at those outraged individuals who condemn Mills for "swearing", have you not been to a football match before?

"If you can't find your winger, then don't give us the finger".

My take on it - he was clearly doing what he was told, just not executing it very well. I can understand why the crowd got on his back for it (Jobi was a passenger for most of the 2nd half as a result of the tactic) and can understand Mills' frustration as he may well thought "I'm only doing what I've been told to do!" but for him to react the way he did was out of order.

As Schards suggested, a fine and an apology and then we move on.

The manager was aware - as I pointed out earlier, one of the things that troubled me was that Mills also waved away fairly contemptuously McD's efforts to get him to calm down.

BMc did see it as immediately after he was out on the edge of his technical area shouting at Mills. I don't think it was a spontaneous action from Mills as he had gestured at the East stand twice before he gave the middle finger salute.

I think the fans (myself included) who jeered his 13th long ball to no-one are justified. However, what I am against was the subsequent booing whenever he got the ball afterwards.

He says he wants to captain this club in the future, he needs to take a steep learning curve after last night. He's been an absolute rock for us and hope this doesn't affect his loyalty to the club.

Do you work for the Sun ?

I disagree - there is a point to this, it is a lack of respect for the fans. If you're happy with that, there is no debate to be had.

But if you were doing your job pretty well at the time would you expect to receive a bit less abuse than Mills did?

Our fans are idiots, that's the long and short of it, if Mills recognises this glaring fact he might not allow himself to get riled.
