The quarter final of the FA Cup will see either Middlesbrough or Chelsea play Reading or Manchester United. Both sides of the fixture are yet to be decided, with Reading playing their fifth round game with United this evening and Chelsea travelling to Middlebrough on the 27th February. Tonight's fixture is Reading's first since their unbeaten run came to an end with a 1-2 defeat at Stoke City in the League. Reading have the toughest possible fifth round game - visiting Old Trafford with the home side currently run-away leaders of the Premier League. United are twelve points clear and will be looking for a domestic double this season having already done most of the hard work in the League. The game was moved to Monday night to accomodate TV schedules as the match will be shown live on ESPN.
Reading last faced Manchester United in the FA Cup, at the same stage, in the 2006/2007 season. A Gunnarsson equaliser saw Reading earn a 1-1 draw and a home replay. The replay saw United race into a three goal lead inside just six minutes. However, Reading got back into the game, scoring twice with Kitson and Lita on the scoresheet to make it 2-3 at full time.
