Reading's pre-season campaign will feature a home friendly against Swansea City and trips to Bristol City and Bristol Rovers as the Royals prepare for life in the Championship. The Royals have traditionally finished pre-season with a home fixture a week before the season kicks-off for real and this year will be no different. The season starts early this year on Saturday 3 August. Swansea City visit the Madejski Stadium on Saturday 27 July as Adkins gets his last chance to prepare his first team squad.
A reserve Reading team, and possibly a few first team players who don't feature on Saturday, will travel to Bristol Rovers a day later on the Sunday. Meanwhile Reading are in Bristol on Wednesday 24 July to play Bristol City.
