Reading Get Off To Winning Start

Reading started their new Championship season with a 2-1 home victory against Ipswich Town in front of a crowd of over twenty thousand this weekend. The Royals struggled at times and may have not been their best but they looked impressive in the second half to earn a victory after going a goal down to the visitors in the first half. As is so often the case, a returning former Royal was on the scoresheet for the opposition, with Jay Tabb putting Ipswich 0-1 up after sixteen minutes. Reading looked set to go in behind at the break until McCleary crossed the ball and Le Fondre scored after both he and an Ipswich defender made contact with the ball.

The goal just before half time set Reading up for the second half and they were able to make much more of an impression on the game with the new signings making an impact. The winner came from a long range effort from Danny Guthrie with 15 minutes left to play as Reading continued to threaten.
