Reading will travel to Peterborough in the second round of the league cup, or, interestingly initialed, Capital One Cup as it is known this season. The Royals made it through to round two after receiving a bye through the first round. Meanwhile the Posh defeated Colchester United 5-1 away from home in the first round and have been rewarded with a home fixture.
Reading have faced Peterborough 15 times in the last 16 years, and the last tie between the two sides was also in the League Cup, in the same round, a year ago. Last year Peterborough had to come to Reading and were beaten 3-2 with Pogrebnyak, Gunter, and an own-goal on the scoresheet for the Royals. Reading have won 7 of those 15 encounters with Peterborough winning 3.
We did previously publish an article that said we'd been drawn away at Rotherham in round two - which was completely wrong - and no one bothered to point out the mistake! We've made a few mistakes in the past but that rates as one of the biggest COC-ups. There's obviously not much interest in the League Cup at this stage of the season...
The game at Peterborough is scheduled for the week beginning the 26th August.
